I had great difficulty in finding “Camillaun Lodge & Angling Centre”
& when I finally arrived I felt I had a very cold welcome, a lot of
the reviews on here are from all nationalities, all but Welsh, was it
because I was Welsh, I don’t know.
We walked into the dining room on the first morning & stood there like 2 ornaments whilst Greg Deirdre’s husband continued with his conversation on fishing with the other 2 guests, he knew we were standing there waiting to be seated because of the noise our feet made on the wooden floor, but he didn’t even turn to see who was there, maybe he thought it was ignorant of him to stop his conversation on fishing with the 2 other guests, no it was ignorant of him to blank us out, he has a very poor personality seems he can only or want to talk about fish, the following morning he walked straight past my partner in the passage at the foot of the stairs, if you are here on a fishing holiday he will probably bore you to tears on fishing, if you are here on a site seeing holiday such as we were then be prepared for the same treatment as we had.
Each time I tried to talk to Deirdre to ask a question she would carry on with what she was doing & start to walk away whilst she was answering me, I felt in the way almost like she wanted to see the back of us, I fail to see how so many people have put on their reviews they had a good welcome because I didn‘t get one & was glad to leave I almost left the day before departure because of the poor hospitality.
On the plus side which is points for the place itself you can’t fault
it, it is such good value. They have a massive room that houses a full
size snooker table & soft furnishings, outside in it’s own building
is a hot tub next to that is a tennis court, there are very large
grounds with shrubs & well kept lawns that run alongside a fast
flowing river, the bedrooms are very well kept, clean & are very
comfortable, so is the En-Suite, it is within walking distance of the
centre of the village with plenty of pubs & food outlets, take a
torch with you for your return the lane is very dark.
