Carlton Hotel Kinsale  

The hotel was very nice. We got a free upgrade on checkin. Staff were very friendly. It's a bit outside the town of Kinsale but the hotel supply a shuttle bus in the evenings. Really enjoyed our stay in Kinsale in the Carlton and Kinsale.

Kinsale is a gorgeous location and the Carlton, while a bit further out, has gorgeous views.

When we got to our room housekeeping hadnt left towels so we had to chase down. Other than that the room was spotless if a bit small.

Receptionist was nice and friendly - that was the only redeeming feature in one of the worst experiences I ever had at a hotel.

The room we were given was a disabled room 101 - beware! The bed sank in the middle and if either of us was disabled I am not sure how we could have got in and out of it to be honest. There was a ticking noise going on for part of the night that kept me awake and after much searchign I discovered it was the emergency disability alarm that need to be reset! Trying to figure this out at 3am is not what you pay to stay in hotels to do. Breakfast - one word - disaster. The say they serve breakfast till 11am, we were there at 10.45am (a little late admittedly) however, there was nothing left, not a crumb!! Another couple stood at the buffet in disbelief also and asked a sour and reluctant server if we could have some food. To have to practically beg to be given something to eat in a 4 star hotel is a bit rich. We did eventually get some black pudding and greasy sausages!! There was no milk on the table and I when I went to ask for some from a waiter who was clearing a table, he handled me a jug from the table he was clearing!!! Another thing the shuttle bus, no where did I read or were we told that the shuttle bus was €3 each, why pay that when you can get a taxi at whatever time you want. Also the hotel is 5km from Kinsale and as we were told by the taxi driver, technically not even in Kinsale. Would not recommend staying in this hotel.

Reasonable rates and very friendly/helpful staff. Nice view from the rooms and nice grounds surrounding the hotel, good pool facilities.

We booked a double room but were given two twin beds pushed together, not ideal for a romantic weekend! There was little parking available although there was a large function on in the hotel at the time and this accounted for the lack of parking (Forgiveable). This was my second time staying here with my girlfriend and we got breakfast included the first time we stayed, we had to pay extra for it this time so we decided to have breakfast in Kinsale (This turned out to be a cheaper and better option, the breakfast was disappointing when I stayed the first time, cheap sausage and bacon although a decent selection of cereal and juice etc)

Beautiful grounds

The inside of the windows in my room were filthy and contained dead flies, arrmchair was dirty. Very disappointing.

Most amazing views from this modernly styled hotel. Great for a weekend away.

Lovely hotel but too far into town, which was a pain but night time shuttle service mad up for it ,sort of.......

Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms spacious but very hot as air con didnt work properly. Minibus service into Kinsale great service.

Rooms too hot and air con didnt work properly. Swimming pool and jacuzzi packed with very rowdy teenagers who were allowed take over the area. Open plan changing area unpleasant and floors unclean.

We had a wonderful room. Both dinners were amazing. I like the "rock" cooking idea.

Too any kids in the pool.

Although the hotel is a bit outside of Kinsale, the setting and views are beautiful.

I enjoyed the atmosphere of comfort and luxory
