“ Beautiful grounds and a very large room. ”

Port Washington
The Castle Dargan estate is set on 170 acres of mature woodlands with unrivaled scenery. "I liked the place", he said, "For the romances of its two ruined castles facing one another across a little lake". - W. B. Yeats It is almost a century since Yeats penned these "King of the Great Clock Tower" lines, following one of his many visits to Castle Dargan. And now an opportunity to re-visit the charms of Castle Dargan is here for you. Stylish design concepts and spacious, light flooded rooms, designed in a contemporary style, set the scene of quiet luxury for discerning guests searching for the highest standards of traditional Irish hospitality. Spectacular views overlooking the 18 hole golf course, designed by Darren Clarke, and the abundant nature surrounding the hotel all reflect Castle Dargan’s harmonious inclusion in the landscape. Good facilities and value for money. Breakfast was a farce. Staff were oblvious to the needs of guests. Person running breakfast in the morning should trained to do the job. We had to ask for toast several times and when we did get it the bread was only warmed and not toasted. The entire cooked breakfast was cold as some of the warmers weren't working and the staff didn't even notice. We had to ask three times for our table to be cleared. I don't think this is acceptable of a 4 star hotel and unfortunately means guests are leaving on a negative note.

the whole experience was top class especially the spacious and comfortable bedroom and the pleasant surroundings. Also the lovely fire in the Coach room where we were served lunch by a chatty and friendly waitress. Apparently golf course was water logged in places. Not fault of hotel!

Lovely comfy bed. Fab views. Food was very good, and the real fire was an added bonus. That you had to pay 10 euros to use the sauna/steam room and jacuzzi. Decor looks a bit dated and tired in places. Could do with an injection of colour.

the apartments attached to the hotel are great for young families with great views. The service at a wedding we were at was very slow for such a renowned hotel. There were a few hiccups throughout the day that very very obvious to other guest at the wedding...not having a knife ready for the couple to cut the cake, they waited 5 minutes!! Thought things could have been more organised

We stayed in a very comfortable apartment with my 90 year old mother. It was mid-week in Aprill so not busy. We were given a ground floor apartment which suited well as my mother is not very mobile & we needed to use wheelchair. It was very quiet & we all slept well in very comfortable beds. We only ate breakfast as we were visiting friends who gave us dinner. Breakfast was excellent, cooked to perfection but with plenty of choices of buffet food also. The staff were very efficient at clearing away as the meal progressed. They were very friendly & nothing was any trouble. It would have been nice to have an accessible shower for my mother as she was unable to access the only one which was in the bath.

Everything, fabulous hotel and facilities. The offer of a glass of sparkling wine upon arrival was a very nice gesture. One night stay wasn't long enough!

The hotel is located in a beautiful estate. The staff are friendly and always helpful. great early bird menu is a real treat. Some effort to tidy up reception desk, the front door and the cracked tiles in the foyer...all superficial but first impressions are important.

Rooms were spacious and very comfortable and heating was good. Receptionist very friendly hotel well maintained. The noise that other residents made at 2.30am in the morning which went on for over an hour. There was no obvious attempt by night staff to control or quitene these people down very disappointing.

The rooms are very comfortable and relaxing with lovely views out to contryside It is a small thing. There was unfortunately an airlock in one of the pipes which cause a noise when plumbing used. It lasted only about a minute but woke me from my sleep when some other guessed used their toilet in the night

Comfortable room good food On arrival receptionist, very direct made a face, when we decided against charging items to our room bill. Same receptionist on one other occasion ignored us. We stayed two nights, on second morning, we vacated our room to allow cleaning lady, to access our room for housekeeping. When we arrived back around 3pm, bed was still unmade, bins not emptied, lady knocked on our door after 4pm, to ask if we wanted our room cleaned, we would have had to vacate room and while I was having a shower, this was not an option. On leaving paying our bill, 8 pounds was on our bill we questioned this as we paid in full for meals etc, no receipt could be found for any item, purchased by ourselves, money was deducted from final bill,

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The room and the hotel were clean and comfortable. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. The only bad thing I would say which is only a small thing but on three occasions we had tea it was not nice. It was too strong and not very hot - we like our tea:)

From check in to departure the staff could not do enough to ensure your stay was enjoyable.Nothing was a problem for them.Hotel was out a bit from Sligo 10 min journey if your looking for a nice relaxing few days or your into golf this is your Hotel. Nothing really just a small point that the tea pot at breakfast could be a little hotter.

Excellent reception staff the girl could'nt do enough , meal in restaurant was lovely Not allowed to walk outside unless your a golfer, very uncomfortable bar/reception area, no atmosphere in the bar to make you want to stay in it.The tea and especially the coffee in the morning was the worst I have ever tasted . a six foot bed with two pillows looked a bit miserable could of done with a few cushions.

The Staff were wonderful. Polite, courteous and extremely helpful. The Steak night was excellent and 1st class. The room. Upon arrival the telephone was broken so I had to return to reception to ask for more pillows and report the telephone. The room was far too hot. Although we turned off the heating, it still didn't cool down and being on ground floor, we couldn't have windows/curtains open to let in some cool air without noise and people walking past window. Room was extremely noisy throughout the night - a loud droning noise as though we were situated by boilers or some kind of fan/machine. If we stayed again I would definately ask for an upstairs room and check the heating switched off if we wanted it too.
