Castle Dargan Hotel  

Great meal, great hydrotherapy stay, friendly staff, lovely surroundings, clean hotel!

The smell outside the room with sewerage problem that was being worked on.

The room seemd like not made from good quality materials.

I booked a Garden Suite and thought that my accomodation would be in the hotel building and was slightly disappointed to discover that it was in the self catering block just across the car park. Nevertheless, housekeeping serviced the rooms as in main building and it really suited our two teenage children - 17 and 18yrs - but I missed the luxury, which I love when I am away, of watching tv while I am mooching around the room or lying in bed in the morning.

The hotel is set in beautiful countryside, we visited mid April and there were hares, pheasants, deer and lots of birds to see in the grounds. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed great Irish breakfasts served in the restaurant overlooking the 18th hole.

I would have liked to be able to walk more in the grounds but it was not very clear where it was safe to do so, because of the golfers. In addition to golf the hotel is also majors in wedding receptions. We stayed 4 nights and experienced alot of noise in the early hours of the morning on 2 of them. The Wall garden suites have laminated floors and fire doors which slam shut, so I would recommend ear plugs!

My husband and I stayed at Castle Dargan for 3 nights we were very impressed with the room and enjoyed breakfast each morning and 1 evening meal which we would very much recommend this hotel.

Accomodation was good.Good golf course. Helpful Professional. Good value package.

Restaurant Service for Lunchtime snacks too slow- over 35 minutes wait ! Opening hours of Spa inadequate - closed at 5pm daily.Food quality ify in that 4 steaks were overcooked relative to what was ordered.

serious lack of attention to detail, there were a lot of small things that we had to keep asking staff to rectify for example wrong food orders, dirty cutlery and crockery. There was a function in the hotel one night and the patrons were outside our bedroom window smoking and talking until 4am and there was a lot of noise when the party was over and people left the premises by the main door beside our room. There is no comfortable area to sit during the day and relax, the furniture in the bar area is very uncomfortable and there is no atmosphere in the bar either. The decor and layout of this Hotel leaves a lot to be desired. We would not go back to this Hotel.

Friendly staff nice area near the fire for relaxing room was good.

Its one of the few hotels I have stayed in where everything is just fine, maybe if I had played golf or spent the day in the spa I would write something different but it was just fine that includes the price which isnt really a dislike I know but I would find it difficult to book Castle Dargan again as I know what to expect i.e no surprises either good or bad just fine.I have described ourselves as a young couple in Question 1 which for the purpose of your survey is probably misleading as we are both in our 50`s but the term mature suggests to me 60 plus, you might think of using age groups in this section to avoid confusion

We stayed in the Walled Garden Suites. The suite was spacious,bright and very comfortable and clean.

Everything! Altogether a great experience.at a great price.

This was our first visit to Castle Dargan Hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The staff were most welcoming and extremely helpful. Food was excellent and well presented. We were thrilled with our 'Room,' the room turned out to be a suite. We had our own hall door, lounge, bedroom and bathroom. So cosy and warm. Wonderful! Will be sure to tell our friends about the Hotel.

The staff were extremely helpful and made a special weekend even more special. We asked about special offers for a proposal and they upgraded us to a suite free of charge. The grounds look stunning and the spa staff are very friendly. The food is excellent as are the dining areas in the bar and restaurant.

The food was delicious however the wait time was quite long.
