Interesting hotel with character.
Bedroom was cold.
Staff are the best thing about this hotel, very friendly and helpful, really made us feel at home without being intrusive. Very good value for money, we were in a room with a double bed and four singles, beds very comfortable and room very clean.
Room was a little cold and tv was a bit tricky to work.
Breakfast was free and outstanding in a beautiful location.
Personal unexpectedly and unnecessary dry for Irish people to be, apart from the owner who is marvelous
Great location. Good breakfast in newly renovated breakfast room. Facilities for storing luggage after checkout.
Location was pretty good and in general the rooms were fairly nice--clean, comfortable, some TV channels. For an inexpensive spot to stay on my trip, it worked out well. Also: I had no problems with breakfast and thought it was a big plus, but I went early (no crowd) and mostly ate cereal, but the eggs and bacon and everything looked great.
One tip: either go in the summer, or ask for a room with updated windows. My first room was absolutely freezing--old windows had big gaps in them that the tiny radiator couldn't overcome. Also: there wasn't heat in the bathrooms of either room I ended up in--reception was nice and moved me to a new room (and gave me a space heater.) The other weird thing that kept happening was that housekeeping would leave the windows in my room open? One day I happened to stop back after breakfast and caught it, but on another I wasn't so lucky and the room was really cold and the carpet in front of the window had gotten wet from the rain.
This was my second stay at the castle hotel and i enjoyed it just as much the second time round. The staff are incredibly friendly and the facilities on par with the price you pay for the room.
Loved the location and interesting atmosphere of this renovated Georgian building. The owner welcomed guests individually everyday and had real Irish charm. Made you feel very welcomed. Unique down stairs vault as bar.
Friendly reception, well appointed room, decent breakfast
When you book a place you want a well rounded visit that is value for money. Most places fall short in some regard but this place was spot on. Tasteful decor. Fair amount of space. Decent en-suite. Good cleanliness. Bigger bed than expected. Fairly strong shower.(Important!!) Helpful staff (especially the catering staff!) Handy toiletries and towels provided.
-Tv channels were a bit hazy and all over the place -On one day I slept in and I had the windows wide open. The fumes from the kitchen exit on the ground floor rose up and stank the room out. No major issues. I would come here again.
BREAKFAST HAS BEEN CHANGED AND ITS IMPROVE BRIGHTER VIEW. RECEPTION STAFFS GOOD AND QUICK RESPONSE WHEN I DID ARRIVED THERE VERY PLEASANT.
KITCHEN STAFF SHOULD MAKE THE NOISE DOWN BIT BECAUSE THE GUEST FELT UNCOMFORT WITH YOUR BAD NOISE CLOSER TO THME WHILE THEY EASTING BREAKFAST, SHOWER BATHROOM NEEDED TO CHANGE AS BETTER COMFORT OTHER. HAIR DRYER WASN'T WORKING, MAKE SURE THE ELECTRCAIL KEEP CHECKING BEFORE THE GUEST ARRIVED.
Loved this hotel! Our arrival was welcomed by a bottle of wine on ice waiting in our room - a lovely gesture from the hotel which we certainly weren't expecting! All the staff were pleasant & very helpful - especially the Reception & Bar staff, nothing was too much trouble. Excellent location, beautiful room, tasty breakfast with plenty of choice, good Irish entertainment in the bar. Will definitely return.
Could have done with breakfast finishing a little later.
