Immersed within its own park, this stunning 19th century country house is set on the edge of Killarney's National Park, only a 10-minute walk away from the center of Killarney. The first thing we loved was the beautiful driveway lined with trees. After stepping inside the hotel and looking around, we were pleased with how elegant the hotel is. It met and exceeded our expectations. Our room was lovely as was the entire hotel. Given the somewhat cool weather we found in Ireland, the heated bathroom floor was especially welcome - a nice touch we don't often find on our travels. We appreciated that one of your staff offered to carry our bags up the stairs given that the elevator was our of order. We loved the complimentary pot of tea - again a welcome touch after a long day of driving. And the delicious breakfast served in your very elegant dining room added to the enjoyment of our stay. All in all, a very positive experience and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Cahernane House Hotel.

The old style 'house hotel' had a very intimate feel with a lovely fire lighting in the reception area and sitting rooms. The 'old style' comfort and relaxed, quiet atmosphere around the public areas of the hotel were very welcoming. The bedrooms were exceptional: spacious, well appointed and very comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. We ate in the bar - good quality food at reasonable prices. Television in room was small, but that didn't bother us. I don't go to hotels to look at television.

Everything! From the moment we drove down the romantic lamplit driveway to the fantastically friendly and helpful staff who could not do enough for us, to the lovely uncertainty of what was around every corner, roaring log fires and armchairs you sank into. Even the provision of wellington boots and umbrellas if you felt like a stroll! Having to leave!

The comfort and cleanliness of our room and the friendly, welcoming staff. Guests should enquire as to whether or not there is a wedding on during stay as it may not be possible to dine in the restaurant if this is the case, having said that it did not bother us and staff will looked after our every need.

My room was a very good size. It had 2 windows so was bright and airy. The desk was a decent size so that I was able to get some work done. The bathroom had a window as well as a fan which is very unusual and did not have the vaguely clautraphobic feel of many hotel rooms. The bath was separate to the shower which was unusually spacious. The food that I ate while there was of a good standard, well presented, the ingredients were fresh. There was a complimentary bottle of water in the room. This hotel would appeal to couples. The pedal bin in bathroom was broken. The chain was broken off the bath plug so I couldnt remove it from the plughole. Out of 3 table lamps only 2 worked. There was no kettle in the room, not good after a 4 hour drive. The restaurant was closed and the celler bar was not particularly suitable for dinner, being small and not well designed as an eating area. There is no lift, my room was 4 flights up. Check before taking your elderly relatives. Chose this hotel because of the parking but had to use the gravel and dirt overflow anyway as carpark was full.At breakfast I asked the waitress if she could take my order as I was not on holiday, I had to get to work. She responded in a hostile manner and informed me that there were 50 guests staying and only 2 staff serving. I told her I wouldnt mind waiting except that I had to get to work and she remained hostile, slamming down my plate and grunting at me when the food arrived. She seemed to be a very hard working girl and I wouldnt like to find myself in a similar situation but this is a management issue and paying guests should not have to listen to a tale of woe just because we request a bit of service. It's not our fault after all. I would not recommend this hotel for business travellers.

This is my second extended stay at Cahernane House in as many years. It has effectively made my decision regarding accommodations in Killarney/Kerry a very easy one. (I'll choose no other.) Thanks a million to the staff, from reception to the restaurant to room and maid service for making the start and end of every day so pleasant. I look forward to returning to Cahernane again next year.

The beautiful original house, rooms, public space and gardens. Tour bus parked in front. How about parking it in back or on the street?

The first lady I met was courteous and helpful. I liked the setting of the hotel, away from the main road. The room was tidy and comfortable. One or two of the younger staff were not very friendly. I received a phone call in the morning which I had not asked for. This was to ask me if I would be down for breakfast. I felt that I was disturbed in order that I would not be an inconvenience arriving down for breakfast shortly before 10am. The purpose of my stay was to relax after a recent illness and thus what I wanted most was to rest. I guess there's not much can be done about the cockerel crowing in the morning but the phone call was another matter.

Det mest fantastiska jag upplevt. Som om man var inbjuden till en godsägare. Gick inte in till stan. Bara relaxade I slottsområdet. Ute och inne. I slotts parken sprang vilda hjortar. Fantastisk personal. Finns inget att anmärka på. Sven lindau
