Musty Over-priced Had to request more coffee and more toast at breakfast Tired staff and furnishings
Very friendly and made us feel at home
Beautiful outside deck, ideal for an afternoon drink, and Tom gave us a lovely bowl if nibbles
We found this hotel to be excellent - food was superb and the room was comfortably furnished and absolutely clean. We have already recommended it to friends and family who may also wish to visit Ireland.
great service - one of the best hotels i have stayed in - in Ireland.
Great location and as others have said a good standard of cleanliness. The owner was a good host and helpful in suggesting places to visit in the area.
High standard of cleanliness in rooms and public areas. Traditional establishment run personally by owner. Easy to find as the hotel is located on main N25 road. Good car parking.
No Wi-Fi. Very weak 3 G signal.
Very comfortable, a home away from home.....
Nice woods to walk in close by. Food excellent
The owner of the hotel was very unfriendly. On arrival there was a problem when we asked for tea and sandwiches. We were told there was no chicken and they only cook the ham in the afternoon. We arrived at 12:30. The owner could not give us a room to change our clothes as we were going to a wedding at 2 P.M.. We had to use the toilet. He was very annoyed that he was not informed about the wedding. We were told the bride and groom did pay him a visit. He said we had to be back by midnight which overshadowed our day. Somebody was in reception when we did arrived back. I would never stay in this hotel again. Only six people (3 doubles) were staying at his hotel, who attended the wedding, that night and only 10 people in total for breakfast the next morning.
The couple who owned the hotel were really welcoming, friendly & helpful. The food was good.
Only a table d'hote menu was given on the evening we arrived when we looked for something to eat. This was price at €40 each, which, with a bottle of wine, brought the bill to over €100. This was more than we would have hoped to pay. At breakfast one morning my husband had finished eating his cooked breakfast before I was even served mine.
Relaxed, easy going, beautiful grounds, gorgeous and spacious restaurant. Staff are local, naturally friendly and relaxed.
If I am genuinely, honest as a wine lover, I found the wine list very pricey for what was on offer, the mark up seemed overly generous. The food, while good, and yes, I am an excellent cook, was also priced on the high side. As a business person myself I do understand cost bases and realise the overheads but it is killing Irish hotels and bars and restaurants
I have read previous reviews, a minority of which have said bad things and I have to say that these are totally unfounded. The Cedar Lodge is an excellent place to stay and everyone is attentive and friendly.
