Centtal location convenient for visiting family in donegal town We have a preference for modern hotels and the Central is not one of these. Level access to our room is also important but we had to carry a heavy suitcase from the lift on the 2nd floor down a flight of steps to our room. The room was a good size but owing to large pieces of free standing furniture there was little circulation space. Overall though a very pleasant stay and we will stay again when visiting relations and friends in Donegal town. Staff at the Central are to be commended for the excellent standard of cleanliness; helpfulness; reception and infromation we received during our short stay.

Extra-friendly receptionist made me welcome, gave me an all-day street- parking ticket to keep the nasty traffic warden at bay; gave me a chit for the breakfast in the Abbey Hotel next door (a sister hotel). Room - large and clean and excellent with kettle, cups and tea/coffee in a press; television; large bathroom with shower; great breakfast next door in the morning from equally friendly staff. You can't find better in Donegal than this place to stop over.

The hotel is in the main street of Donegal Town. It is easy to get to. It is necessary to park in the public car park but the hotel receptionist supplies you with a parking permit for the duration of your stay. Food was good and plenty of it. I did not have a problem with anything.

Very convenient to shops. Breakfast was supposed to finish at 10.00am but even at 10.20 am staff still allowed guests to have breakfast. This was something I have never seen before. Brilliant. The check in time was 4.00pm which seems a little late.

Stayed for 1 night as we were attending a wedding in another hotel outside. The hotel is fine. It is quite old and perhaps a little dated. The room was a double and also single bed. Absolutely no view - just a wall. Room had a hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. There were some stairs to be negotiated in order to get to our room so please bear that in mind. We were on the first floor. Had a drink in hotel bar which is very nice and very friendly staff. Prices reasonable enough. You can get a drink up until 2 am but after that the night porter wont serve any drinks. Breakfast was fine but finished far too early (10 am) for a bank holiday weekend. In most hotels you can have breakfast up to 11 am at weekends. Yes, would stay again. Certainly didn't like having to be down for breakfast by 10 am. on a Bank Holiday weekend.

The breakfast was great and the room was nice and very clean. Hotel was in the centre of donegal. Was very quite and peaceful. Good value for money. The decore was quite old fashioned. A bit of a maze trying to find our room. Alot of rooms down little corridors.

Staff were all friendly and smartly turned out. Breakfasts were as much or as little as you wanted. Cooked breakfast was a nice clean, non greasy fry, all hot. Decore was all smart and looked fairly fresh. Good location for other bars& restaurants. Council Car park was a bit of a walk and although ticket was provided by the hotel it was down the road and not part of the Hotel.

“It is an excellent blend of the old and the new. It is like stepping back in time. It was lovely to see the old photographs and the album of the garden and its development. I felt almost part of the family during my stay. The books on display were very interesting.” Sheila, Holywood |
