“What i like about Charleville lodge hotel, was the cleanliness of the place, they helped to book a taxi for me which i appreciated very much and the hotel staff are friendly. Charleville Lodge Hotel, is a home away from home.”

I found the 4 staff I met and interacted with were all friendly and helpful. Johanna was detailed and thoughtful. Paul was friendly and courteous, Anatasia was helpful and went out of her way to find us a cork- screw for our wine. Rajesh was very nice to talk to. It was a very good experience with the staff and their services. All beds in 3 rooms were clean, neat and tidy. The complimentary Wi-Fi performance was good. Very convenience parking at the backyard, and short (8 minutes) drive to the popular tourist spots like Guinness Storehouse, Brazen Head Pub and Temple Bar. Lots of "rooms for improvement" - so to speak.... Little annoying things like the 'loose door knobs' in all 3 rooms that our family stayed in, hook was in our closet floor instead of fasten it at the back of our bathroom door. This place has a potential to be a 4-Star hotel and all it takes is some 'low cost labour work' - (like hiring a student)to fix up little things. And if they can throw in a fresh paint, this place could be a 4-star rating in no time. At this current condition, I would rate it as a 2 star.

The room was big enough to accommodate me and me friend with a double and single room, room was clean bar the bathroom with some hairs on floor and in bath. Despite some of the reviews it was quiet bar people leaving in the morning we stay downstairs. Can't comment on breakfast but there is a great Chinese place down the road which sell s breakfast for €2.99 Stray hairs in bathroom Was slighty further into town than thought we used the bus everyday which u had to have the exact change for or airs quite a way to walk to the centre

Hotel overall nothing special but if you want to get to city centre, bus station right in front of it. And you get what you pay for. But here is my problem. There are two things I need when I book hotels. One of them is bed. And no problem there, nice, clean and comfortable. But... ... The other thing is water. No hot water from shower in our room. It is hot for about 20 seconds and than it goes cold and whatever we did it didn't come back. We complained, went out to the city and when we came back the lady told us that someone came and saw that there was no problem. That someone probably left the water running for 5 seconds and in that period everything was great. So we didn't have hot water from the shower three days. Also, the toilet worked when he felt like it. You want to flush it, nothing happens, tried 4-5 times, nothing, and then all of a sudden no problem, works great. So, we probably got the wrong room, other rooms work fine, but they lost me if I ever return to Dublin

Nice and calm neighborhood. 46A bus station to city center just in front of the hotel. Clean room. Extra comfortable bed. Excellent WiFi in the room and in the lobby. You can leave your luggage after check out without any fees. Check the flyers from the reception. You can find 10% discount coupons to many attractions. No hand held shower head, only a rain one. The breakfast could be better.

I think it would be fine should you have no problems with your room, but rarely have I come across anywhere so uninterested when a guest has a complaint. I was very impressed by the way that my dissatisfaction (see below) was dismissed by the staff as unreasonable. Its nice to have a keepsake from the places you visit. Mine is the paint on the sleeve of the jumper I'm wearing at the moment. It came from the door handle of my twin room at the Charleville Lodge Hotel (I booked a double) which had no wet paint sign on it. To be fair I should have smelt the paint as it was the overriding aroma of the room for the whole stay. The smell did dissipate when the window was left open, however that did leave the room at balmy 8 degrees. I informed the staff that I was wasn't very happy about this situation to which I received little more then shrugs. In a city known for its friendly nature, I can't recommend avoiding this place strongly enough.

It is a simple accommodation, with nothing special to offer. The bus stop is in front of the hotel. I would consider this hotel again for another stay in Dublin. Really far from the city center, about 30 minutes walk. The breakfast is expansive, compared to other similar b&B.

Friendly staff, the room was a good size and very clean. Breakfast was good, portion size good and plenty of choice. A bit to far from the main centre, a good 30 to 40 mins walk, we had a ground floor room which seemed to be very noisy with the other guesses moving around, inside and out side in the car park.

It's a case of you pay for what you get. It's not a luxury hotel, it's basic, cheap and does the job! Perfect for what we wanted. Comfy bed too! The location isn't fantastic but the bus stop's just outside and it's about a 5 minute walk to shops, 15 minute walk to Croke Park.

I like the friendly and extremely approachable staff at the Lodge, as well as its quaint, no-BS approach to business ... this is exactly what I enjoy ... modest, affordable accommodation in a residential setting. Some of the rooms are quite small and cluttered ... but my two most "serious" complaints are: very old and mostly useless tv sets and bathrooms that a bit below standard: the shower-tubs did not drain properly in 2 of the rooms I stayed and the water was only luke warm in the other room.

The rooms were comfortable and the breakfast was nice. The staff has no personality....dull. The website says that it's 10 minutes walk into town, in reality it was a 45 minute walk into town/15 minute bus ride. We chose this hotel for it's location....which was a massive fail and we ended up spending a fortune on taxis as there were 10 of us. The website also says there is a bar which there was not. Not good when your on a hen weekend.

Charleville Lodge is cozy and wonderful place, especially for the price. We paid €195 euro for a Twin room for a 7-day long stay and even ended up with a room featuring a Double bed and a Single bed en-suite included. The staff were extremely helpful and operated through the night making it extremely handy to get anything required, delivery of pizza included. Even the room cleaning service was excellent, as when we slept in they would leave a bag of towels and replacement wash room supplies outside our door. Location was just out of town so sound levels were at a pleasant minimum, although the walk to the center of Town could easily take 20-25minutes bus routes just located outside could have you there in 5minutes. All in all a very pleasant and enjoyable stay for people looking for comfort and affordability. Light bulbs missing Television very old and limited to fuzzy aerial channels cold shower when had heating on needs thicker walls

Very friendly, breakfast options were excellent, they have taken out the coffee and tea facilities in the room which was a pitty as you then had to pay 1 euro everytime you wanted a hot drink, I feel they should put this back for the guests. The location was good for the centre of dublin as a bus was right outside the hotel and very easy to catch, please make sure you have euros on you as you pay 4 euros each way (2 people). The staff were helpful and I would stay again on a short weekend break. No real complaint, but they should put the coffee and tea facilities back in the room.

“I was shocked and amazed at the value for money as it was only 40 euro per night and I was surprised at how well the room was presented and the quality of the room was outstanding. I have to say the pillows were the best I have ever had! And all the staff were helpful and especially the maid who always asked if all our stuff was okay :)” Jonathan, Manchester |
