Breakfast in the mornings was great as was the restraunt food and the bar staff in oscars were very friendly. When I booked the hotel of the intenet the photos of the hotel were very good and I was attracted straight away to book it which I did for 3 nights in a family room. The price of the hotel was more expensive than other hotels I looked at in Letterkenny. When we arrived at the hotel I thought straight away it could do with being painted.Staff at the reception were very friendly and helpfull. We were given our room number which was room 263 and on our way up to the room we noticed that the windows around the hotel were very dirty as was the carpet on the stairs. In the room my first thought was it could do with being updated and the bathroom needed to be painted and the lighting in the hotel room wasnt very good. The view out of the room window was awfull it looked on to a roof and by the looks of it it was ready for falling apart. We found the room very stuffy and warm and it was hard to sleep at night because it was so warm and when we left the window opened all you could here was some kind of generator noise all night.

Enjoyed visit to clanree. Fine hotel. relaxed atmosphere. Compliments to staff in the bar, they were very friendly and bar Food excellent. was disappointed having booked a non smoking room and pre paid a number of weeks in advance, to be accomodated in a smoking room with a very strong smell of stale tobacco!! However after complaining we were up graded!! On arrival we were asked how we would pay despite full premium being deducted on booking with no refund allowed!! Would like to see some fresh flowers/ plants , (dont have to be expensive,) in reception area dried arrangements have been there since Christmas (Red and silver foliage !!! in June) Staff at reception not overly friendly and not very knowledgeable about places of interest etc.

The Breakfast. The room was awful, so old fashioned and the bed had a dip in it. The carpet was filthy and you can see under the cabinets and see all the dust. If you are planning on going here for a small break where you want to get sleep, dont!!! There is live music there every weekend which we didnt know about and you spend the whole night awake with the noise of the music and people constantly coming in through the double doors to the bedrooms drunk out of they're minds. So i really would not recommend this hotel.

I've stayed at the Clanree many times and have always found it lovely there. The room was very cold so we didn't get much sleep on the Friday night. There was only one extra blanket which we used for the Saturday night but we were still cold. The air con/heater didn't work.

Friendly staff and excellent spa facilities! The location, the assertion that town centre is only 15 min walk away is a bit far fetched, more like 25 mins.

It was quite noisey, with children running up and down the corridors late at night, we even had the fire alarm going off three times in the one night. So not a quiet hotel.

Imo they were hungry for money. They try to hit you for all add ons. You need a swimming cap (I haven't seen this in years). So they sell you a piece of plastic you will never use again for 3 euro each - I have a family. You have to pay a deposit for the use of pool lockers - we forgot to return the key until the next day. We were informed that the staff treat uncollected deposits as tips and that they would not refund our deposit. I could not leave fast enough.

Location & Price. Large bedrooms. Friendly staff. After a very grand entrance lobby, the Decor is very outdated. The room I stayed in smelt of stale smoke, although supposed to be non-smoking room. The menu offered in the bar is very limited. Bedding didn't feel very hygienic. Needs total update, even a good paint and new bedding would help.

“A very well maintained hotel that is wonderfully positioned to enjoy all that the North West of Ireland has to offer. The staff were fantastic and could not do enough for us, no matter what time of day or night, even when we had to leave at 3am to catch our ferry, the night porter was making us coffee and toast for our journey. We had a great time riding along the various beaches, and even tried our hands at surfing for the first time! A great first holiday in Ireland and we can't wait to return.” Philip, Gosport |
