The Clifden House was horrible. My husband & I went to Ireland for a 9 day vacation in October 2014. Our first night stay was in Dublin and at the Clifden House, however, after arriving we promptly checked out! First & foremost, the neighborhood was a complete slum. I would fear for my life to walk down the street. The car park was so tiny, it was useless. The room was filthy, including was looked like black mold in the bathroom shower. The door to the room also didn't lock appropriately. We luckily ended up finding a great hotel in Naas, Ireland and the rest of the trip was flawless. I hope no one else gets scammed into the illusion of the internet like we did. The posted pics look like they were stolen from another website.
Good location, close to city centre but very quiet. Good breakfast.
Unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom from time to time.
Good location (only a 5 minute walk from O'Connell street). Very friendly staff. Clean, modern rooms. Complimentary wifi. Off street parking for €10 per day.
The 72 stairs to bed....killer!!
The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to arrange shower facilities for me after completing the marathon which was appreciated. Just a stones throw to de city centre.
The shower space was a little small for tall people but other than that it was a great stay.
staff, room, breakfast..
staff very attentive with customers personal foarte amabil si prietenos
The staff was very pleasant and helpful. I had to print some stuff and they helped me with that. Also very welcoming giving me guidance on places were to eat around.
There is no lift and walking to the 3rd floor can be a little bit exhausting.
breakfast really poor value staff not qualified. I got a fee due to the staff lack of information: they told me i could park in the front of hotel for free during the weekend and my carhas been clamped.
Very central location with good public transport facilities. On arrival we were met by very helpful staff. Our room was spotless and very spacious. The breakfast was excellent value. Overall we had a lovely all but short stay in the Clifden House.
“Extremely good value. Very friendly staff and always clean
I went with my partner, son, friend and her daughter. We got room 16 right next to the reception. Very warm. Very quiet. Female staff very friendly and helpful.
Male night staff was not on reception at night. Was waiting around to give key and ended up just having to leave it. Then on way back in was out in the cold waiting ages for him to appear. Didn't apologize or anything eventhough i had a 6 month old baby with me.
Great location, awesome bed, would stay there again.
Near to town centre. Reception staff very helpful. Breakfast was cooked well, but not much choice. Bed was comfortable.
Noise outside late at night. Two lots of stairs, not suitable for senior citizens. Untidy back entrance from car park in garden. Paying 10 euro's to park a day. Very small toilet and shower, hand basin was in bedroom.
Rooms were beautifully decorated. Appreciated added extras like bottled water and good instant coffee.
71 stairs to our room, number 10. No lift. no smoking rooms and also no balcony in the room. The great trek.
Everything except the shower was lovely.
The accommodation was very well situated. The room had everything I needed. Staff were excellent and very helpful.
The weekend I chose was a special culture weekend, so accordingly, the price was a little high.
The breakfast was good (though not even half as good as in many other places in the country we've seen). And the employees were quite nice. It's certainly not their fault that this place is awful. The only good thing about the location was how close it was to the town centre.
The bathroom was not up to European standards. The shower head was fixed on the wall, which made it impossible to properly wash one's private parts. Thank you very much! The basin was outside of the bathroom, next to the bed, and had separate taps for hot and cold water. Very awkward. Unfortunately, we have seen this kind of thing all too often all over Ireland, but there *are* accomodations without such atrocities, so that's not an excuse. What else? The room was tiny, with a useless third bed wasting all the space. Everything felt old but without style. The area of Dublin where the B&B is located was ugly and dirty.
The staff us wonderful. They are helpful and always friendly. The breakfast was excellent.
We were on the top floor, there were 71 narrow stairs to our room. It was very difficult raking the bags to our room. Also, wireless did not connect on the top floor.
Location Staff Comfortable beds Cleanliness
Cramped bathroom with near impossible shower to fit in very average breakfast
Large spacious room, terrific double beds each and wonderful breakfast. Plus just a short walk to Croke Park. Will be back
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room had been decorated beautifully and was thoroughly clean. We had a twin room which had a double and a single bed and still plenty of room left. The price was also very reasonable, considering the quality of accommodation and proximity to all the bars etc.
We were next to the breakfast room so it was a little noisy in the morning but nothing too major!
