The room was excellent and the bed was the most comfortable one we slept in over the 5 days we spent in Ireland. We had previously stayed in three other hotels during the week. The food was also of a high standard both for dinner and breakfast. The Bar area could be warmer and more welcoming as one side of it is very near to a main door which was left open during the day despite the fact that the tempature outside was only around 14c.

We enjoyed the architecture and history associated with this hotel. The concierge was most helpful and intent on equipping us with adequate directions for our departure. While the driving instructions may have been accurate, it was difficult with Dublin signage to locate, so wasted considerable time that we would have preferred to spend in the city. We were further disappointed that the two bus tours staying in the hotel consumed the space in the restaurant so that we could not eat our evening meal there.

The hotel looked lovely inside and out - we stayed in the new part of the hotel the room was clean and nicely decorated not huge but adequate and it had a lovely comfortable supa king bed. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Had a lovely meal in the restaurant on our first night and the breakfasts had a good self service selection. We loved staying in the castle but was suprised that they did not have any gardens to speak of - it does seem to be in the middle of a housing estate. About 15 mins out of town - ok for us as we had hire car - town not walkable and taxis quite expensive.

The only negative item was that the beds were too firm. I would recommend putting a pillow top on the bed.

Not exactly a castle but still awesome! All the main rooms and dining areas are in the castle. From what I can tell the rooms are an extension, nice hotel but not a castle. A bit far from the sights of Dublin

Food and staff really good. Lovely building. There was no wifi in my room even though they said there would be. Bathroom got fogged up instantly....no extractor. I feel in these times that €99 without breakfast or even a cup of coffee is exorbitant . I would not stay there again!

I cannot say enough kind things about the people who work at the Clontarf. Each person we interacted with was very generous with their time and made my stay (along with 5 others in three rooms) a wonderful memory. I would return to this beautiful and well managed hotel/castle in a minute. I recommend it without question. Nothing to write regarding concerns and we are an extremely varied and complaining lot as a rule!

It had a wonderful ambiance, a real olde world feel with very modern facilities and great service and quality. We ate in both restaurants which were well worth it.
