The price was excellent - simple clean amenities - perfect for one night away. Loved the charm of the place. Had a meal in the bar - well priced - very good - excellent service. There was nothing I did not like.

the location, and the staff, excellent breakfast. Receptionist very obliging and took a complaint I made to her seriously. The fact there was no bath shower needed updating, room was cleaned as well as it could have been and my belongings were moved.

Staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was absolutely awful, my plate was swimming in grease and it was full of water from my poached eggs.

At breakfast the staff paid great attention to myself and husband and made sure we had everything we needed. Unfortunately a late night party started at around 3.30am in bedroom close by, not the fault of hotel but it did spoil our night away.

I love this place and will definately stay here again. I arrived in the early hours of Saturday morning to a very warm welcome. The bar man kindly drove with me to show me how to get to the hotel car park. He then offerred to make me a cup of tea, they could not be more friendly and helpfull. Breakfast freshly cooked with good products, lovely eggs. Right in the centre of Kilkenny so handy for shops and sight seeing. A little bit of Irish history in the dining room, well worth a stay. I can't find anything to complain about.

I liked the old charm and character of the hotel, the staff were friendly, and the breakfast was very tasty. I found the downstairs toilet to be smelly, like the smell of stale urine. I also did not like the smell of disinfectant in the bedroom, it seemed to be coming from the en- suite. We did not like the mattress cover as the underside was plastic and got too hot during the night.

The hotel itself is old, old decor, old fashioned, old old old.... The smell is immediate , old........ That been said the staff were amazing , breakfast and reception staff were so friendly as was the night porter ! if you want new mod con's , a white crisp finish with marble bars don't stay here!!! It is what it is. The walk from reception to my bedroom was like doing the dublin Marathon,,,,,,,but parking was brilliant, price was excellent and to be fair the bed was comfy and clean as were the towels and bath room. Look at the end of the day would I stay here again yes it was smack bang in the centre of town , easy to find and as mentioned the car park was huge and secure. Felt comfortable here even table as a solo female.

Location is very good. Otherwise, there is little, if anything, to recommend it. Our room (No. 1) was appaling. It looked like a makeshift attic conversion. Lighting was so poor that we needed the light on during the day. The wooden-framed, single-glazed window was very dangerous as the cill was very low down and the frame was partly rotten and without any safety devices. A young child could easlily have fallen from the 3rd-story window. The bathroom was at least 30 years old and way below the minimum standards we would have expected in even the most basic accommodation.
