Owner sings during breakfast and sometimes plays musical instrument. My sister recommended the place after her visit last year
Only short walk to town centre
Needs to make sure her guests are being served properly at breakfast while she entertains by playing and singing.
Great welcoming and the tent we had for the first night was very comfortable(only joking)stayed in many b&b's in the past and I must say this is the best one yet hope for a discount next year lol.
The singing breakfast with Mary!
Mary was great, a real star
Mary was a very nice person
Our stay at the Guesthouse was absolutely great. Mary and heir daughter gave us a lovely welcome in their very clean and wonderful home. We also had the pleasure of Mary brighting up our breakfast with an absolut stunning violin solo!
I liked the location, beside the town, yet not part of it. Our hostess was friendly, and musical - she serenaded us at breakfast! Our room was spacious and clean (the tv was a little on the small size, but had good picture and sound), and the food was excellent. I requested pancakes, as I don't eat fries or cereals, and I got beautifully cooked pancakes and fruit. Overall, very good.
My husband and I, and our friend, found the singing and music at breakfast a touch embarrassing, as impromptu breakfast performances are not something we're used to in Ireland. No doubt, Americans love it, and it is a change from the radio! Nothing else to complain about.
Singing Mary plays a fantastic violen after breakfast. You will be made to feel at home from the moment you arrive. No sad faces in this house.
The proprietor takes a personal interest in her guest and was very friendly and knowledgeable. Definately the best breakfast of our stay! She played fiddle, tin whistle and sang for us. Of course Connemara is beautiful! Lovely place to stay!
It was very hot but can't really complain about a heat wave. A fan may have helped but the heat was very out of the ordinary for Ireland
Location to town an easy walk
Small room Rock hard old double bed Towels like sand paper, thin and small No sound insulation between rooms Adjacent plumbing very noisy Continuous banging doors through out lodge Internet not available in rooms
Mary is a very friendly host always in for a laugh and a joke. while we sat down for breakfast her performances like playing the flute or the violin as well as singing was very much appreciated. We still find it a pity that we could not spend more time at Mary's Connemara Country Lodge Marc & Chris Hoevenen, Belgium
The location was good. Mary is friendly and lively.
There is no wifi as advertised. I didn't enjoy the breakfast experience ..the music is probably nice for tourists from outside Ireland and there is no doubting marys talents but I found it intrusive and slightly cringy.
So friendly and helpful. Mary, the host, entertained us to a tune on the fiddle, a tune on the tin whistle and a song - AT BREAKFAST! And all the while she was chatting in French to the French and in German to the german guests! An amazing woman:-)
Located just 10 minutes walk from Clifden town centre. We were given a warm welcome by Singing Mary (she gives a performance after breakfast has been served, playing tin whistle, guitar and singing). Plenty of on site parking. Comfortable and clean rooms with en-suite facilities. Full Irish cooked breakfast is available and will keep you going all day. A great place to stay. Would certainly recommend this guest house whether just for a one night stopover ot longer stay.
proximity to town
no wi-fi in the room cash only to pay for the room very musty
Staying here is a rather unique experience. The landlady is very friendly and highly talented. Not only does she converse with her guests in french and german, but provides a short concert during breakfast - singing, playing the guitar and whistle !! She is very keen to promote her country and ensure you have a good stay with her. The room was a good size, clean and comfortable.
Nothing - although if walking into Clifden it is all up hill on the way home
Our room was clean and well equipped. We enjoyed the good humour of the host Mary
Only one light bulb in the room corridor! is there a shortage of light bulbs in Ireland!!
Very nice, the landlady was an excellent person,
Mary was a wonderful hostess! Her home was clean and well decorated; the full breakfast was wonderful and she was such a help in providing info on the surrounding area and what to do. Her home is beautiful-the front entrance has flowers upon flowers! When I come back to Clifden, I will definitely stay at Mary's.
There was nothing that I didn't like.
Warm welcome; Mary's sense of humour; breakfast choice; quietness of room
Having to go home!
The house and grounds were lovely I enjoyed breakfast very good, could have done with better weather but what can we do this is Ireland.
Friendly staff, nice location.
No heating in room first night. No hot water in shower, (especially annoying after a 140km cycle). Grounds outside were very untidy. 250 euros for two nights is a joke when you can't even have a hot shower.
