Poor use of sea view
The most tranquil and relaxing hotel I've ever stayed in. Bring a book and sit overlooking Galway bay and watch the sun go down.
Staff Food Relaxed comfortable areas
Location is fantastic as hotel overlooks Galway bay. Hotel is excellent with great facilities and services.
Hotel is shabby and poor value for money
Hotel is very clean and very comfortable bed, location is beautiful and the food is delicious
The only request I had on booking this hotel was for a quiet room. There was a loud constant hum (not the air con!) which not only prevented me sleeping but drove me to distraction to the extent that I had to leave the room at 3 to preserve my sanity. I travel extensively and have never experienced this before. The Staff in the dining room were particular rude as we didnt have a dinner reservation. We were seated at the stairs when we asked for any other table were told no they were all reserved when in fact almost every other customer arrived we could hear them say they had no reservation. The second night we couldnt face going through this again we went to the bar to get a soup and sandwich we were told very brusquely that they had stopped serving it was 2 mins past 9 pm. We had to get into our car and drive to next village for food. Waitress staff particularly 'Karoline' never looked at us when taking order she barked her questions and grabbed my husbands plate banging his face with her arm, no apology just kept looking over her shoulder. In a very loud voice she said to the couple beside us that 'we dont give away food' when they were taking a piece of sausage left over for their dog
Yet again, they put me in a lovely room with a mixture of elegant and wonderfully eccentric touches, including a seamstress's mannequin,a framed piano score (Tarantella of all things),quirky pictures with a cycling and musical theme and an upside-down picture of a hummingbird beside the bed, even a toy sheep...Everytime I walked into the room I spotted something I hadn't noticed before...There was also an beautiful table decoration in the shape of a fern...and a bookshelf stocked with a range of racy retro bodice-rippers (from Victorian to a 1980s bonkbuster) and action books...As well as the flatscreen TV, there was a retro radio-cassette-CD player and a very eclectic CD compilation (everyting from Elvis to Daniel O'Donnell!)...The selection of mags and books on the coffee-table was just as interesting - fashion, tourism and...sharks! Also oldfashioned (but clean and modern) wardobes with curtains, and fluffy bathrobes and slippers inside...And of course their wonderful vegetarian curry, lovely selection of local breads and biccies, and a proper vegetarian option on the breakfast menu...Also ample parking, proximity to Connemara Airport (just a six-minute flight to the Aran Islands!)...And a lovely, safe area to walk around even for solo female travellers (nice grounds and a busy-but-not-too-busy road with decent paths)...Shops and curiosities within walking distance (including a mystic maze beside an old church)...I was supposed to cancel this work trip but found another excuse to stay here. I can't rate this place highly enough for total relaxation and its convenient location, and an looking for another excuse to stay here!
Can't stay here all the time!
The hospitality, The high standard of service from all the staff (room service, housekeeping, waiters, bar staff, front desk & porters, gym staff, spa staff), The variety & quality of food at breakfast & dinner. The birthday treats! The hot tub, the decor & the grounds. The feeling of ease & relaxation & peacefulness.
That the sauna didn't work.
Nice hotel, lovely staff, good breakfast
Food was excellent.
No Internet in bedroom.
it's a fine Hotel if you happen to get a refurbished room but still expensive for location etc
Must have got the oldest room in the Hotel. €125 scandalous amount to charge for an old room! Would not go there again that's for sure. This place needs a MAJOR Face lift

Staying with a 4 month on the second floor and away down the hall was a bit of a pain.also a cocktail bar was advertised but they dont sell cocktails. . . .
I loved the little cosy corners with sofas and books, very inviting. Everything had a luxurious feel and I would definitely return. Lovely comfortable room and delicious breakfast.
