We loved the Church of St. Peter and Paul - they feature vivid and colourful stained glass windows made by Harry Clarke. We were in there for way longer than we anticipated, the art was so detailed and interesting. We found handy parking round the back of the castle, but it was February and was quiet so no problems there.

It was a very friendly town, with many pubs, cafe's and restaurants.
Sean's Bar had a very good live music duo. We ate at The Fatted Cow, which served excellant food in a professional and friendly atmosphere. The town itself was easy to get around with good transport links to other towns and cities. It was a good place to be based at.

There are many lovely places to visit along the river in Athlone such as the castle and the art gallery. It is possible to explore all of the attractions in the town centre on foot. There are numerous good cafes, restaurants and bars in the town. The town also boasts numerous quirky shops as well as the many of the big high street names, located in the shopping centres. The town also benefits from the greenway and the newly opened greenway bridge which crosses the river in the town centre. There are also many beautiful places to visit close by such as Coosan point, Glasson and Hudson Bay.
Having stayed at the Athlone Springs several years ago, I was delighted with the new warmth and ambiance- the hotel is maintained to a high standard. The room was large and airy-thanks to the provision of an A/C we were comfortable during the warm nights. Staff were very friendly, welcoming and accommodating. There was a very good selection provided for breakfast - including creamy porridge. We were glad to avail of the evening meal which was equal to any restaurant in town and very fairly priced. Many thanks.
I cannot say enough good things about this beautiful property. Our room was spacious with a very comfortable bed. The hosts were very friendly, and amazing cooks. This was a great way to end our tour of the many B & B’s we stayed at during our travels through Ireland. Sean’s Bar was within walking distance and the hosts provided great dinner recommendations. This breakfast was our favorite. Thanks for a great stay. We will be back again if we make it back to Ireland!
This is my 2nd time to stay here, and I always enjoy staying here. There are always plenty of spaces in the car park upon arrival. The checking in process is simple. The rooms are very spacious, clean, comfortable, and quiet. The large TV in each room also has loads of TV channels to view. The staff are very polite and courteous, and it definitely beats other 5 star hotels that I have stayed in. I will always stay here, whenever I am in Athlone.
At ten minutes walking distance from Athlone town centre and the train station, we got a full-sized 2-bedroom 1.5 bathroom appartment with all ameneties and well-equipped kitchen, all much bigger than we've had before when booking a self-catering appartment. We only stayed one night, so it was a pity we couldn't really enjoy it completely; this would be an ideal starting place if you want to explore this part of Ireland for several days.
Excellent location for a shopping trip. Lift from the hotel directly into a shopping centre with many high street stores. Rooms were really comfortable and felt like real value for money. Staff were very helpful and friendly and managed covid restrictions with ease. We had breakfast (a combination of self service and table service) and an evening meal there and both were excellent.
Breakfast included special yogurt and locally cured ham. Great breads. Meeting Nancy at breakfast was special. As we were leaving, she came out to join Jim in wishing us well as we continued our journey across Ireland. Also enjoyed learning about the success of the family business, Woodfit Acoustics, now run by two Denby sons. The woodwork in the house is beautiful.
After a lot of days of walking in the rain it was nice to be in a cozy hotel steps away from the city sites. And a nice pool, steamroom and sauna to relax and feel warm
Ease of check-in despite a lot of people checking in at the same time. Staff was very helpful and calm.
The location is excellent for water sports and relaxation. About 7 minutes from Athlone Town and lots of parking available. The staff although very young, strive to make you feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble for any of them they are the hotels biggest asset.
Lovely hotel bang in the center of Athlone, free parking.. Rooms lovely and appear new..Hotel spotless, lovely pub and restaurant onsite, quality pub grub.. staff couldn't be nicer.. stayed in a few other hotels in Athlone previously but this is the one I return to...
Great little find in Athlone, nice and quiet(bad experiences with very noisy hotels in Athlone before) very friendly staff, basic but had a great price which is rare these days. Would definitely go back if needed a hotel in Athlone again.
Had an absolutely faultless stay at the Radisson Athlone. Everything was lovely, the staff were friendly and helpful, the food was excellent (both breakfast and the evening meal we had), the hotel was clean and in a great location.
Super new and lovely hotel in the heart of Athlone.
You can do Spa, wellness , Sport and shooping! The hotel is surrounded by a big nice and new shoppping mal.
The Restaurant serves very good dinner! Breakfast is awesome
The hotel was absolutely stunning. The bar, restaurant, pool and hot tubs were perfect. The room was huge and extremely comfortable. Couldn't hear a thing from the halls. The quality of food we had all weekend was great.
Great stay, the owner is really one of a kind person that helps you in each requests and it is a pleasure to talk with.
The hotel and the breakfast are a real taste of Ireland, super recommended for a trip in Athlone!
Property is perfect for a family stay in the Athlone area - having a washer and dryer is a plus. Host was great and responded quickly. Also provided dinner/restaurant suggestions.
Location was great for launching my boat at the adjacent slipway. It's a lively hotel - but comfortable. We enjoyed our one night stay. The breakfast was great!
