Nestled against the banks of the River Barrow and surrounded by luscious green grounds, the 3-star Dolmen Hotel is located just outside Carlow. Rooms are en suite and feature TVs. Rooms all feature work desks and tiled bathrooms with luxurious toiletries. Hair dryers, telephones and tea/coffee making facilities are also available. The Barrow Bistro serves fine food all day, cooked by the bistro's head chef, who previously trained Jamie Oliver and has cooked for celebrities and royalty. Guests can enjoy an a la carte menu and an extensive wine list. Guests can enjoy a stroll around the beautifully landscaped gardens, with its impressive bridge joining the hotel to its own private island with picturesque views of the natural backdrop of the River Barrow and the surrounding Killeshin Hills. Carlow shops and restaurants are easily accessible and Carlow Castle is a short 15-minute walk. Free parking is available at the Dolmen Hotel. Very pleasant and friendly staff. Very helpful. They could not have made us feel more welcome. Was a bit disappointed with the food in the restaurant. Other than that no issue.

Staff were friendly and the breakfast had a good selection location was brutal, no where near barrow way or town needed car to get anywhere. Strong smell of cigarette smoke in the corridor. Didn't think it was value for money, quite disappointed.

I travel on the road during the night & need early check-in wherever I stay. The Dolmen has been able to accommodate every time. Staff very friendly & helpful always.

I was there for a family wedding and unlike most hotels I've stayed in for weddings, the food and drink were excellent! The room was very clean and comfortable and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly!

the countryside looked beautiful on the web page but the bad weather did not allow it to be enjoyed The double bed in the room was disgraceful ......... Complained at reception the following day and the room was located too near the reception area where there was a lot of noise

It was handy to the college for our sons Graduation. Relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff. Hotels should have a Spa/Swimming Pool/Leisure facilities. Very old fashioned. Pillows were too hard. Sheets were too rough - Comfort is all about softness PLEASE. Mattresses were too hard - It wouldn't cost much to put foam 'toppers' on the mattresses - more up to date. TV's were ridiculously too small.

We attended a family wedding. The welcome and efficiency was excellent. Room very comfortable Food excellent - very tasty, hot and efficiently served. We were very pleased with out stay and I would gladly recommend it to anyone for its location and comfort.

good parking facilities, friendly reception. very good value for money. we were at a wedding dinner in the hotel, and unlike many other hotels on such an occasion, they kept their room rates very reasonable
