the only thing that I liked during my stay was the breakfast. On arrival I was put into a three single bed room whereas I had booked a double, the towels in the bathroom were completely old and frayed, the covers on the beds were old and dirty looking, cigarette burns on them, the carpet was filthy, I was eventually changed to a double bedroom with the help of the barman, the guy who was on the desk was no help at all, he said I booked a double twin, whatever that is, the very nice barman came to my rescue. The breakfast was nice and the lady who served it was very helpful and pleasant, the room was supposed to have been cleaned but the floor was definitely not cleaned, dont think we will be staying there again. I have stayed in this hotel a number of times over the years and was always very happy but this stay is definitely the last one, they would want to spend some money and decorate the place, the ceiling in our bedroom was all cracked and peeling, also cobwebs in room and hairs in the bath when we arrived. |

Not busy but all staff very friendly. Nice dinner watching Ireland-France in an empty bar. Noise between 4-6 am from group of mindless youngsters kept me awake. |

Booking on line was easy and there was no need to confirm details. Also, my credit card details were only used to secure the room and not for final payment. Very impressive. The lady who served us breakfast on the morning of 8th November was delightful. We stayed in room number 111 which was a little way from the reception. There was a sign for reception from one direction but not from both directions and it was a bit confusing at first. A small point, I know. |

We liked the location of the Downhill Inn. On arrival we were not welcomed by the member of staff at reception, he did smile. When we requested extra pillows we did receive them. We had requested a non smoking room, unfortunately we were placed in room 110 which reeked of stale cigaretttes. The single bed nearest the window was faulty and kept tipping in towards the wall. There was an old paper coffee cup inside the bed nearest the bathroom. We did not eat at the Downhill Inn because an English tourist staying there advised us not to. On departure the gentleman who checked us out never enquired if we enjoyed our stay, and actually proceeded to read the headlines of the newspaper while waiting for our reciept to print. He never thanked us for staying or wished us a safe journey. |

convenient had breakfast once and went out for breakfast after that. did not have some items mentioned on menu such as yogurt--- in a land of milk and dairy products I did not appreciate getting margarine with my toast instead of butter. TV remote did not work the first night and I asked desk clerk to check it out and nothing was done. The next day the day clerk put in fresh batteries and it worked fine. |

The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Every conversation or request was responded with courtesy and helpfulness. The food in the restaurant was good quality and a fair selection Some parts of the accommodation looked a 'little worn' and could have done with a make over... |

Nestled between 2 lakes, Pontoon Bridge Hotel has a beautiful location and lovely views. It is ideal for a short break and often runs classes on fishing, cookery and painting. |
Centrally located in the beautiful market town of Swimford in County Mayo, only 15 minutes drive from Knock Airport, this hotel is truly the gateway to the West of Ireland. |
