Downings Bay Hotel won the regional award in 2006 from the Irish accommodation services institute. The award is given to properties that have achieved excellence in accommodation service standards.
Now currently working at Downings Bay hotel, he has spent 3 years building this 3-star hotel into a 5-star standard eating establishment. All food is fresh and completley cooked to order. Whilst Chris's food would be described as international, he tires to stick to traditional Irish as much as possible, serving it with modern twists.
The Haven Restaurant is fine dining at great value, with the finest and freshest ingredients on the market being used to create such dishes as sweet onion Tartlett with peppered organic strawberries; dry-aged sirloin of beef, simply served with Dauphinoise potatoes; and a renowned white chocolate cheese cake with orange ice-cream.
The Haven Restaurant also offers an elegant and varied wine menu as recommended by Edward Dillon, Dublin.
The restaurant has had recent rave reviews in the local press and is consistently producing a quality product.
Open Monday to Sunday from 18:30 to 21:30.
Bar food is served daily in JC’s Bar from 13:00 to 21:30.
Sunday lunch is offered from 13:00 to 16:00.
Rooms are tastefully decorated with soft furnishings, equipped with modern amenities, and secured with security lock card-keys.
Interconnecting rooms are available and should be requested upon booking (subject to availability).
A lift offers access to all floors and the rooms are wheelchair friendly.
Situated 13 km (8 miles) from Creeslough and just 1.6 km (one mile) from Carrigart, Downings is one of the many seaside resorts to be found in this part of Donegal. The hotel is situated within 1.6 km (one mile) of the fabulous Rosapenna Strand and Downings Beach.

very comfortable room with plenty of space and bath / shower option also tea / coffee facility. overnight parking space inadequate in the extreme.grounds outside very unkempt and full of rubbish. |

Nice and clean and very ajacent to the beach. Efficient booking in/out. The water pressure in our room was appalling - literally stop/start in the bath and whb. We mentioned to reception twice and they said all they could do was mention it to Maintenance (knowing full well that it was A bank hol and there wasn't a hope of getting it looked at! At no stage was there an apology. Also, Breakfast served in a barn of a function room rather than the dining room was poor and quality of food poor. |

The hotel was very nice, it was clean and comfortable, the staff were very friendly and helpful. I did not like it being so close to the amusement park. Being so close to the caravan park also attracted a lot of young people hanging around the hotel. |

we liked the most comfortable bed, it was very quite at night, the room was well equiped , it was very close to the beach. the breakfast was cold and breakfast room was not very nice. |

We could hear people talking in the room next to us at 5:00 a.m. and the area outside the hotel was also noisy. Our information from your website said that we would have a free breakfast, but the hotel staff didn't mention it so we traveled on. |

Beautiful hotel with very friendly and helpful staff very relaxing. Room a bit cold and even though we turned on radiator no heat came through and menu for restaurant was limited and mostly fish. |

Gewoon een prima 3-sterren hotel. Netjes en schone kamers en grote goede bedden. Goede badkamer. Achter het hotel ligt een kleine baai met een mooi strand en mooie uitkijk. |

De ligging van het hotel ten opzichte van het strand was perfect. De deuren van de kamers sloegen erg hard dicht wat je uit de slaap hield. |
