Wonderful staff and a beautiful place to stay in Ireland. Highly recommend
The attention and service provided by the staff was outstanding!!
It was apparent to hear eveything happening in the room adjacent and the hallway.
Hotel and grounds are very impressive and staff is excellent.
We thought maybe we would enjoy a drink in the cocktail lounge but promptly left when we saw the prices were running 20+ Euro per drink, ridiculous considering what the room alone costs. Might explain why only 2 people were in the cocktail lounge.
Everything, especially the pony trap.
It was a dream of mine for years, so it being my fiancees 40th, it seemed like the perfect time to realise my dream and do something special for Alf.
I trained in 5 star housekeeping, so dust on legs of tables, and other areas caught my attention.
Superb historic main castle with wonderful grounds. Exceptional staff. Fantastic room. Great food & beverage. Fun golf course
Zero defects during our stay
The scenery was stunning. There was plenty of places to go walking. The rooms were very comfortable The staff were most helpful and always polite. The food was served hot and tasted excellent. Entertainment was good. Plenty of activities to partake in, The castle itself is a magnificent building.
Pre-dinner drinks: fantastic sofà near fireplace and excellent cocktail Atmosphere Greenery (view on golf) Variety of activities offered
Dinner in gallery (risotto was poor, service un-attentive) Separate cold-hot taps
Beautiful common rooms
Expensive room located in basement
I loved how beautiful the castle and grounds were. All staff were extremely attentive and polite..very caring. Made me feel pampered.
Having to leave....
Location Staff Activities available - falcons, clay-shooting, fishing etc Gym Food Puff and Putt area
Really, really, expensive for such limited amenities like bathroom items, relatively small room size, etc
High tea was a high. We stayed here 25 years ago and remembered it fondly.
Too hot, no AC, many guests had open windows trying to cool off. Food was only mediocre. Service was pretty good. Castle could use some updating especially when comparing this castle to comparable properties like Ashford castle which was much much nicer, better service, better food, Air conditioning and in much better condition.
The accomadations were beautiful, relaxing and provided everything we needed.
Since I could only get one night it was impossible to get a ride around the grounds or other emenities on short notice.
Beautiful grounds and excellent staff. Wonderful common areas for dining and cozy bar. Food was very good.
Tired decor in the guest rooms. You walked into the rooms and could have been in any hotel, no sense of being in a castle at all. And the decor was tired. You could see nail holes in the walls and wood furniture paint was chipped and out of date. The rooms were a big disappointment and not worth the money
Everything was just beautiful but it was the staff that made it memorable, they were lovely and nothing was a trouble!
The grounds, beautiful trails with interesting features (lilly pond, stone hut, monument). Used the mountain bikes and peddle go-carts.
A bit formal and sleepy for us (but would be very romantic for a couple). Room was a bit dark with small windows, had to open them to cool the room and flies came in since no screens. Breakfast was very expensive and no other options nearby.
The staff was so friendly and helpful. High end treatment with a casual feel. Loved everything.
It gave you a feel of old world but with the luxuries of modern times.
The castle and rooms were beautiful. Lots of things to do on the grounds. Formal and informal dining which was good for children. The staff was extremely accommodating. I do think it was a bit pricey. I probably wouldn't go back simply because I have experienced it now and can get excellent accommodations for half the price.
I gave a fair rating for facilities because the rooms need air conditioning. I was very uncomfortable trying to sleep in a hot room. For the price the castle should have the comforts of AC.
the activities were plenty and special the grounds were beautiful and the history was phenomenal
they advertise as castle, but it is a manor there is a dress code if you want to eat and they don't let you know that before you stay so we had to leave the grounds to eat with a hungry toddler they also advertise one of the breakfasts as informal but there is a dress code when you get to the door
The photographs are certainly impressive and we could only hope the experience lived up to the promise. If anything the Castle and the surroundings were more breathtaking than the images - it is not just a facade with hotel rooms attached ~ all the rooms are in and around the Castle building ~ I believe you can stay in the towers!
We loved it all.
We emailed ahead and they responded in a very timely manner and were able to accommodate our requests. The golf and dining were exquisite. This is a must.
I didn't like that the staff of the club house did not know how to accomodate our purchases with a tax free form so we were not able to recover the tax on our clothing purchases.
