This hotel seemed to promise so much, but it didn't quite live up to its image.
I stayed for just one night, and did not have time to use any of the spa facilities, so cannot comment on those. The food (room service) was truly awful - I ended up leaving it uneaten - and I was quite hungry! The room itself was fine, but really nothing more than a bog-standard hotel room, and in need of some paint touch-ups in the bathroom. The double bed was actually two singles pushed together, and the seam down the middle was very uncomfortable. All would be just ok in a budget hotel, but very disappointing here and I would never pay the full price to stay here again! The smell of smoke in the hallway was pretty bad. I'd have expected nice toiletries in the bath, but these were the sort of 'bulk product poured into hotel containers', rather than a branded product - much less a premium product. Shame really - this is priced and clearly aimed at being a 'luxury' hotel - but it had taken so many cheap shortcuts, it just feels a bit of a letdown.
The grounds were lovely, and the staff at reception were very pleasant and helpful.
