lots to see in area
location a bit remote but OK if you have a car
Fantastic location near garage and store with café and a short walk to the heritage centre with craft shop, restaurant with delicious food, artwork, music and a duck pond. Choice of walking round the historic buildings for a few euro or over the bridge to the lake that has water feeding the local electricity. If mobile directly beneath the climb to the peak of Mount Errigal, the highest mountain in Donegal county. Above the road to Letterkenny or west coast, with lake or mountain view and great facilities and friendly staff with well equipped kitchen also.
Nothing not to like. Is a really well priced economy break in a beautiful and relaxing place with helpful people. Even if other guests a little weird, large enough to avoid difficult people.
Difficult to stay warm, heat goes on for a little while and for the rest of the night you freeze!!!
Dedicated staff, ready to help Hostel was simple but quite nice
Actually the only problem was the bad weather we had there
Very friendly staff . Premises spotless. Lovely night spent and climbed Errigal following day in atrocious conditions. Hostel obliged us with a shower to warm up and a cuppa.....where would you get this kind of warmth...only in Donegal!
Kitchen a little small if hostel were crowded. Consider not pouring juice for breakfast until required by individuals.
location, staff, easliy accessed, rooms comfortable
kitchen just little small when trying cook meal if there are others at the same time. Heating could have been on in room a little earlier in the evening .
Very friendly and well equipped hostel, had a great visit!
Could feel every ridge & spring in the mattresses, but bearable when all else taken into account.
Arriving back to the hostel at approximately 1am after driving from a friends accommodation my key card did not work. it took approximately 10 attempts to get me in the main entrance and after a half hour of trying on my bedroom door i was unable to gain access. this meant sleeping in the common room as there was no staff anywhere! to add insult to injury even after checking out a day early because of this i was refused any compensation or refund. disgraceful!!
Very welcoming staff indeed - made us fell special even though we only stayed one night. The location of the hostel is jaw-dropping. Worth climbing Erridal mountain behind the hostel, though no path from the hostel itself, unfortunately.
Everything is brilliant about this hostel. I highly recommend it. Ar dóigh ar fad . Definitely be back!
Stay too short!
Location for hiking and visiting the area, the facilities in the hostel
Loved the view and general peaceful location, in the backdrop of Errigal. Modern and clean, providing all you need at a very affordable price.
No forewarning of a large group of children speaking Irish and running around all night on one of my night's staying there, and making it undesireable to use the kitchen as they were being cooked for.
Awesome location in middle of the national park area, lovely stuff, good kitchen, easy to find
After showering the toilet was wet because there is no wall between.
friendly staff, picturesque location
cool shower and lukewarm radiators on a fairly cold (early March) night. also, we got bedlinen covers to cover other set of covers, already on the bed, and were told that was in order to save on washing (?), which presumably means the other set rarely gets washed (why have it there in the first place?)
The friendly welcome The price The dining room
Not there long enough
Very clean, very cheap and fantastic value for money. The staff were unbelievably helpful and even booked things for us when we didn't know how to. We even stayed another night because it was so good. Location was amazing and truly beautiful, so was very relaxing! Very chilled out and tea.coffee was always available any time of the day. Breakfast was simple, but really everything you need, and kitchen facilities were good as well. Altogether a fantastic stay and will definitely go back sometime!
Our ensuite shower soaked the whole bathroom when used. Otherwise, everything was great.
Friendly staff, clean rooms & good facilities, kitchen etc.
Sinéad, the manageress was very friendly and she is also a fluent Gaelic speaker!
The buzz with the different people constantly coming and going! The setting was also out of this world!
The weather, which couldn't really be helped!! I don't think the bathroom had really been cleaned as the shower basin didn't drain because it was blocked with hair - the switch kept tripping too meaning the bathroom fan could never dry the place out.
