We have stayed at the esplanade on several occasions both with children and adults. I think that this hotel is one of the best we have ever stayed in . between the house staff which very rarely get a mention in any hotel ,very efficient .reception staff very good, any thing you wanted they went out of their way to look after you . the bar staff even if they were very busy made you feel at home . and very friendly .alan and anthony which we met on our last visit were top notch.nothing was too much will be going back very soon thanks to the staff

Nice Hotel, right on the beach. Obviously "of its generation", nice lounge, genuine fire. Rooms with a sea view, and not a Basil Fawtly one either. [ "The bit between the land and the sky"] Staff were "varied". Two ladies extremely nice, a couple of others could do with going on a Course. One of our rooms had a dirty coverlet. [ 205?]

Staff very helpful & polite. Hotel has a nice relaxed atmosphere. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Only complaint would be the lack of choice on the menu for both restaurant and bar meals.

The newer rooms are perfect, modern, clean, spacious and warm Ask for the newer rooms at the front, the older rooms are a disgrace ( trains running, old mdf wardrobes, net curtains, papered over holes, large cracks in the sealings, musty smelling drawers and stained carpets?

Very good location, very nice staff. We booked a bedroom for 2 people, but there were 2 double beds in the room, what made the bedroom looks to small. Besides, I wouldn't consider it as a hotel that is suitable for people on the wheelchair.

I'm really happy I picked to stay at this hotel. The facilties, room, catering and cleanliness were all to a very high standard for what I consider a mid-range hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful without being ott. It's not a fault of the hotel really but I found that having the dart line (trains) directly behind the hotel didn't help.
