staff breakfast view
The family were lovely . They were very welcoming and the breakfast had a great choice and was lovely . The room was warm and really comfortable .
room was great, shower was hot and worked, slept really well. The owner was fantastic and the breakfast was great - there was too much food almost and she nearly killed me with kindness - would happily stay there again - it was worth the drive.
nothing to dislike
Very friendly and welcoming. Excellent breakfast menu. Comfortable bed.
A little bit too far off the main road.
Findus house is the benchmark for all B&Bs, greeted with homemade scones and cake on arrival, lovely accommodation and facilities, the breakfast which again included homemade scones and wheaten bread was beautiful and very ample indeed. The owners were lovely people who made us feel very welcome and at our ease and conversed quite freely without being intrusive. I have been around a few B&Bs throughout the country and would say without hesitation if I am back near Macroom I would stay again, my two other brothers said the same. In conclusion a nice place to stay in a nice part of the world at a very reasonable price, well done to Findus House you are a credit to your county.
Set in tranquil and beautiful countryside with manicured gardens surrounding the Farmhouse B&B. We received a very warm welcome from our hosts who couldn't do enough to make sure our stay was enjoyable. Wonderful breakfast menu including delicious homemade pancakes and scones. Elegant bedrooms - clean, very comfortable, warm with good-sized en-suites. A very peaceful and most enjoyable visit.
Not a dislike at all but more a suggestion to phone ahead of your stay to get precise travel directions as, once off the main road, the road that leads to the farmhouse is a little windy and you may feel you are off track. Michael (one of the hosts) provided directions to us that were spot on and we were glad we had phoned ahead to be clear on the route to the B&B.
Mary and michael are genuine folk who look after their guests with the least fuss and are an essential part of their country community. It is a beautiful part of ireland. We have stated there twice this summer
Some distance for eating out. Local pub limited with food. But then we were allowed to bring our own cold food and eat in breakfsst room
My brother and myself liked everything about Findus house if you want to feel Irish hospitality up close and personal this is the place for you,Mary and Micheal are wonderfull hosts in all things to make you feel like one of the family, when we were there guests from Portugal, and Germany stayed there so there you are international guests and i have not even mentioned Mary's home made bread yet,so get to Kilnamatra post haste for Irish hospitality personified.Thank you both from Patrick and Leo.
Mary and Michael made us feel so welcome in their little bit of heaven. Freshly baked scones on arrival smothered in freshly made blackberry jam made by Mary herself. Michael was charming and his story telling was priceless. Findus was charming and clean and everything we wanted it to be for our first taste of Irish hospitality. We would come back in a heartbeat if in the area again.
Owners are supberb . Couldn't be more welcoming.
The fan of the bathroom in next bedroom kept me awake. Sorry to say . Not the people next doors fault just inadequate sound proofing.
Everything about this property was excellent, cannot fault it in any way, the food was very good, the location could not be bettered, the gardens and surrounding countryside were very peaceful. in short the perfect B&B.
We liked everything and would love to one day return, such a happy couple and soooo much history. We loved it.
Nothing everything was perfect.
This was our second stay at Findus House, our first was in 2006. Michael & Mary are by far our favorite hosts! Mary's breakfasts are fantastic, and her scones are beyond compare. I could live on those scones alone! Michael's singing is delightful and comforting. We found Findus House to be the perfect base for touring Bantry, Kinsale, and other spots along the beautiful southwestern coast. Joining the O'Sullivan's on Tuesday night for live music and dance in Macroom was one of the highlights of our visit. Findus House itself is roomy and comfortable. Our room (room 3) was lovely with a very modern ensuite bathroom. The views during the drive to and enjoying the grounds of Findus House are absolutely phenomenal from the roses, to the grazing cattle, and on to the distant mountains. There really is no other place we've found like Findus House.
-Very wellcoming people -Beautiful landscape -Delicious breakfast -Lovely atmosphere -Nice room -Opportunity to socialise with owners and other guests
The warm and friendly hospitality and service from Mary and Michael is exceptional. Mary's breakfasts are legendary and Michael sings and brings Ireland to life. Though remote, the location is perfect for touring the area and the views are wonderful
The fact that I put on about a stone in 5 days with Mary's baking!!!
friendly--good food homey
Very pretty gardens, quiet location, near to friends and Toonbridge Dairy. Good choices for breakfast.
Nothing, we liked it all.
Wonderful location;excellent hosts, lots of parking. Breakfast was a hot meal with several choices, bedrooms were big with ensuite bath and amenities provided. Wi-fi best in the communal areas. You won't be disappointed.
A bit tricky to find but that is half the fun, after all.
We loved the hospitality, warm welcome, comfort and character and the obliging 'lift to the pub'. Bono the family pet dog, gorgeous!!
We found Mary & her husband very welcoming and friendly. The tea and home made scones were wonderful. Mary introduced us to to the addition of having Baileys with our porridge.
That it was out in the country, quite and on the first floor breakfast was great every day
The couple are getting on and need help with the running of the house. There was no WI-FI in our room, the heater did not work. We rarely saw the owners.
Delicious homemade brown bread and scones for breakfast.
Our first experience of stay in farmhouse. Clean and lovely room, cup of nice tea with home-made scones and joyful conversation. We really wanted to stay more.
Scones and jam and breakfast were VERY good. Hosts were genuine and friendly. View was beautiful.
