This small, family-run country house is on the edge of Lough Swilly, set in 18 acres of mature trees and lawns leading to the 2 km-long beach.
Fort Royal is renowned for peace and quiet in comfortable surroundings, and for good food and wine. Walk on the beach, sit by the fire with a good book, or look down to the sea from the terrace. The village of Rathmullan is a 10-minute walk away.
Within the grounds are a 9-hole pitch-and-putt course, a hard tennis court, a walled kitchen garden and an arboretum.
Portsalon, Rosapenna, Ballyliffen, and Dunfanaghy golf links are within one hour’s drive.
The hotel serves snacks in the bar from 12:30 to 14:00. Table d'hôte dinner is served in the dining room from 19:30 to 20:45; please make advance reservations by 12:00 on the day you wish to dine.
The surrounding area and countryside outside the hotel is renowned for its beauty. There are many breathtaking walks and drives which the hotel will gladly recommend. Glenveigh National Castle and Gardens are a 40-minute drive from the hotel and Letterkenny, a 30-minute drive away, has all you need for shopping.
