“ well worn old fashioned seaside hotel. A step back in time. great location. good value. substantial breakfast. very friendly. ”
Patrick,
Ardee
Situated in the picturesque town of Clifden, the hotel is fast becoming the premier location for activity holidays with its unique and diverse landscape, ideal for walking, cycling, and hiking. Connemara's longest established hotel, Foyles has been owned and managed by the Foyle family for nearly a century. The impressive building, which has played host to many famous personalities over the years, has recently been redesigned to the highest modern standards, yet retains much of its old charm and atmosphere. After a long day of exploring Clifden you can relax in the comfort of the hotel; rest in the patio garden or enjoy a drink and some live music in the hotel bar, Mullarkeys.

Hotel is located in the centre of Clifden - excellent location for eating out and listening to irish music in the local bars. Professionally run establishment, very good customer service and excellent full irish breakfast. Hotel has very good reputation with the locals for dining out in their restaurant of an evening. Would recommend to all travellers.

This family run hotel concentrates on customer service. It is not modern, which adds to it's charm. The staff could not have been nicer or any more accommodating and the evening meals in the attached Marconi restaurant were fantastic. It was a pleasure to stay there and I hope to do so again some day.

Nice friendly family run hotel in central location. Good food and comfortable room. Homely. One pair of noisy neighbouring guests who arrived back to their room late at night showing no consideration for other hotel users by conversing at the top of their voices for a considerable amount of time resulting in my not sleeping well. This was a shame as otherwise the hotel was very quiet, considering it was in the middle of a town.

It was a change from the "chain" type of hotels in Canada where we usually stay. The hotel employees were fantastic and the breakfast was delicious.

In a fabulous location, right in the centre of town. Very friendly staff who were very helpfull. The Restaurant was vibrant, very busy and were the most efficient at filling each table, I have ever seen. The Breakfast Room was excellent, again with outstanding service by the almost all-male Staff. The lounge had large settees with plenty of space. We arrived early and the Receptionist could not have been more helpful, bringing us free coffee and biscuits. I was most impressed with the Hotel and will certainly be staying there on my next visit to Clifden. The only possible complaint from my Wife, was the Public Rooms and the Bedroom could have done with freshening up with a lick of paint. The carpets in the public areas had seen better days. Generally though the kindness and efficiency of the Staff made up for these shortcomings.

Location is the best feature of this hotel. It states that it has recently upgraded facilities. Having stayed there I'm not sure you would notice - infact the thing you notice most is the smell when you walk in through the doors of unclean carpets and general uncleanliness which is a little off putting to say the least. The hotel rooms give you the impression of needing a good overall spring clean especially when I moved the curtains to try and locate a plug point, the dirt and cobwebs were disgusting. I don't think the staff notice these things because it certainly looked as if there was at least a number of months worth of grime build up everywhere you looked. If they had given me a cleaner and duster I would have done it myself.

We like the old fashioned family atmosphere and rooms that are spacious and not chopped about to increase accomodation. The staff were very friendly, service superb and Marconi's restaurant probably the best in Clifden.
