The staff at the kids club were lovely girls and great with the kids. The kids play room was good and the cinema was great. I found the reception staff unwelcoming and got a bad first impression. Didn't like the open plan foyer as found the seating uncomfortable, far too open to the public, noisy and not a cosy place to sitting and relaxing. I was charged 170 euro for one night b &b for myself and just a five year old child in the room. Not good value for money. Restaurant was like a canteen and not up to 4 star standard. Charged 8 euro fifty cent for a child's portion for lunch - too expensive for what was on offer. Only one window in our bedroom and although it had a sea view it was at the height of my head so room felt claustrophobic. I can cancelled the second night reservation and stayed at the beautiful Meyrick Hotel in Galway city for a much better price of 115 euro b&B.

Staff very friendly and respectful. Food excellent. Service/room service excellent. Decor superb. Comfort of bed excellent. The noise! Asked to be placed in the quietest part of the hotel and my request was adhered to insofar as the staff put me in a room that was not above the restaurant or the bar. However, I experienced firstly noise from an adjoining room that actually woke me up at 12.10am and lasted for approximately 50 minutes. Shouting between a couple and screaming from a young child. This I found very disconcerting indeed. When I reported it to reception at 12.15 they agreed to follow it up. However their intervention (if any) did not change the situation at all. After the couple 'next door' eventually went to bed I was awoken again by a gang of about 13 youths drinking, shouting, letting off fireworks in the adjoining park which was only a few meters from my room. The hotel staff were unawares of the behaviour of the youths when I brought it to their attention in spite of the fact that they supposedly have two porters who are in charge of patrolling the grounds. The gardai were called but did not respond and the gang finally dispersed at approx. 3.15Am. So irrespective of the lovely v1 sprung bed in the room it proved useless to me as I could not get to sleep in it. There are no notices in the hotel asking residents to be quiet during the hours of 11pm and 7am which I have seen in other hotels (Europe) nor did it appear that they were concerned at all with the unruly behaviour of the youths in the park and the effects it was having on their residents sleep.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and very comfortable. Even though the hotel was busy there was no noise or disturbance during the night. Breakfst menu is excellent with something to suit all tastes. We felt the room was a little small and the window was small and quite high, which didn't allow us to enjoy the sea-view. We got food from the bar menu on arrival - cod with chips. The taste and texture of the batter felt like it was re-heated. A little dissappointing. Otherwise it was a very enjoyable stay.

Staff were all fantastic, could not fault them Room was lovely and quiet The leisure centre was very disappointing We booked it largely on the promise of a pool for our daughter, but were quite disheartened with both the size of the pool and the general leisure facilities on offer Hotel should stop advertising itself as a leisure centre, it is only a pokey 15m pool with a few exercise machines lumped into the leisure reception area I hate the mattress protectors some of these places use, this hotel included

Location Galway Bay hotel felt like a retirement home. We are in our 50s but the clientele were all in their 70s. The rooms are very dated and originally we were Put in a room with a very small high window. The staff Did move us on request as it felt very claustrophobic. One morning we had to leave without breakfast(incl in rate) Because restaurant was filled and queue was out the door.

Bright, spacious rooms, attentive staff, good location, excellent breakfast. Would like to have a small fridge in the room. Safety deposit box in room would also be good, rather than having one downstairs near reception.

Very pleasant and comfortable room with side view over Galway Bay. Nice swimming pool. A bit out of town but walkable for the energetic or bus into Galway town. Very good rate for the facilites, and excellent breakfast - but....see below Arrangements for serving tea, coffee and toast at breakfast need to be changed: they did not ask what we wanted when we came in, but waitresses brought out large trays of teapots, then coffee then toast, and went round the tables at the top end of the room. BUT as we were seated furthest from the kitchen they never actually reached us before supplies ran out: when they brought out more they still did not come down to our end of the room. Eventually, when we had FINISHED the rest of our nreakfast I had to go and ask if they might perhaps see fit to bring us some coffee and toast.
