A very short walk from Heuston Station where our train came in, and where there is a Luas tram stop. Bedroom was at the back so very quiet. Although it was fully booked we heard no other guests. Near to places to eat and drink too. Very pleasant staff who had made the effort to learn our names in advance.
No complaints at all
Close to luas to city centre; close to Heuston station; easy to find; I had a quiet and large room at the back; good value for money compared to nearby hotels and friendly owner.
Great location, facilities and cooked breakfast - perfect for our weekend stay in Dublin. Gráinne Sheehan was an amazing host and very helpful in giving directions/suggesting things to see and do. Would happily return.
Very friendly staff, great attention to detail in the rooms, very pleasant stay!
friendly staff, good Irish breakfast, good beds, clean rooms, homely atmosphere
It's located 30min walk outside city centre and public transport stops at midnight.
Quiet room, comfortable bed, excellent Irish breakfast and coffee.
Warm welcome from the owner and a great breakfast the next morning. Close to train station, LUAS stop and city centre. Large, comfortable room.
You really need to go to the dining room to get good wifi coverage. It would be more convenient if there was good coverage in the rooms
Homely atmosphere = Hospitality Relaxed, friendly staff Best morning coffee I've ever had in Ireland Generous breakfast
Outstanding location 3 minutes walk from Heuston train station which also has the airport bus and tram into the City. The breakfasts are great and Ryan's pub across the street is a Victorian gem with excellent food, perhaps Ireland's best pub!
Very friendly and helpful host. Large, airy room, fluffy white towels. Fantastic breakfast. Very close to airport bus stop and tram into town.
Innkeepers were really helpful, flexible breakfast, good location near train station. Shutters on windows kept out all the street noise
Location, service, food, room, etc.
Roberta and Gráinne are the best hosts I've ever had; they're warm, helpful, chill, and go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and enjoying your stay. Gráinne also sent me a very detailed email couple days before my travels about how to get to the lodge, recommended sightseeing tours, and travel passes for transportation, it really helped while I was doing my research on how to get around the city. Breakfast was great, I loved the full Irish breakfast they served, and they were very accommodating towards my friend who was a very picky eater (a different vegetarian menu every morning for her). They were also one of the few places that provides free breakfast, lots of the other places I've looked at requires you to pay extra. They also have a wireless printer in the dining room for guests to print boarding passes for free (lots of hostels are stingy and charge per page)! The heaters are really warm and there is plenty of closet space. Room has all the essentials you'll need--water heater, assortment of teas, hair dryer, toiletries, towels. There is housekeeping everyday and the toilet is spotless: it smells disinfected (no moldy or damp smell), can't see any mold in the corners, it looks like you can eat off the floor. The location of the lodge is right next to the Guinness factory and Phoenix Park (and Dublin Zoo), and close to a big railway station with all the buses and trams. It takes only about 15 min to get to city center via public transportation. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone, and I would come back when I visit Dublin again.
The carpet has a musty odor upon entering the room, and the lighting is dim in both the bedroom and bathroom. I would suggest adding another shelf in the bathroom, girls have lots of toiletries and makeup! My friend and I only had 2 small carry-ons so we still had ample space to walk around, but I could see this being a problem for people who travel with large suitcases.
I was very pleased with the staff and facilities. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our visit was great --- Thank You :)
Nothing negative to report
Helpful staff good breakfast lots of small extras in room such as cotton buds make up pads shower hats as well as bottles of water tea and coffee and biscuits
Bed only 4 ft 6"so not big enough room on front of house very noisy from heavy traffic
The staff at Gate Lodge was fantastic, and breakfast was great--plenty of cold, quick options (including cereal, yogurts, fruits, etc.) and a full Irish breakfast--were included in the price of the room. The french press coffee was a nice touch.
The room felt a bit antiquated, and it isn't the most beautiful b&b we've stayed in. However, the place is still nice and very comfortable. Each of us slept magnificently. And with a great breakfast as part of the package, the room is a terrific value for the price.
Breakfast is great, decent size of room for a double bed, clean bathroom and hot water, Wi-Fi is ok and printer is available.
It was a quiet comfortable place with friendly service.
Ease of access to Heuston Station and walking distance to many sites . Asling hotel is nearby and has a great Restaurant and Bar. hostess is very good about pre arrival email with all the pertinent details!
very friendly and most helpful staff. nothing was too much trouble.
Location very handy to both airport and city. Staff was helpful and thoughtful. Beds were comfy and shower water pressure was fine. Quiet neighbourhood close to Heuston station with good chinese takeaway Riri's! Lots of choices at breakfast.
Decor is a little dated but adequate. Television as well but hardly needed to use it as Dublin is filled with things to do!
This B&B was in a very pleasant location, close to Phoenix Park, and easy to take the bus into central Dublin. Our host was very helpful with suggestions about Dublin, and she enjoyed chatting with her guests and made us feel at home.
Great location close to transport. Comfortable and clean room. Delicious breakfast and helpful and friendly hostess.
I liked everything fhe kindness and generosity of the people . We felt they are our family
Good pub and food very close by.
Fair walk to any available parking but it was our own foolishness for having a car in Dublin.
