Score from 562 reviews Wonderful
The location was excellent - only a few minutes drive from the centre of Killarney, and yet the house is surrounded by picturesque views. Bridget and Conor were extremely helpful (as were all the staff) and were happy to advise us of directions to the wedding we were attending, and sights to see the following day. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious and the homemade bread at breakfast was delicious - I was tempted to ask for the recipe. I couldn't recommend the Gleann Fia Country House highly enough. I will definitely be looking it up next time I'm in Killarney.
The house was very quaint, loved the decor. It was very comfortable and I really liked the "family run" aspect to it! The owners could not be more helpful. The room was comfy, the grounds were very picturesque and overall it was a very enjoyable stay.
It's not central, if you have a car with you then there is no problem but it is a 20/30 min walk from the Main Street. This didn't affect us as we drove and I liked being away from thr madness of Killarney town centre on New Years Eve but for someone who doesn't have transport it is a bit out.
Location, hospitality, breakfast..
The property was fairly close to the centre of Killarney, a short taxi journey - but felt nice and secluded. Rooms were comfortable, breakfast was great, and staff were very helpful. There is also an honesty bar which unfortunately we didn't know about until the morning when we left, but is a nice touch. The grounds of the house are very nice, just next to a small river. Thanks for a great stay!
Nothing negative to note.
Conor's personal touch: both as hotelier and tour advisor! Relaxed environment as if staying in your favourite uncle's country pile Great location, excellent wifi, tasty breakfast Library
Absence of coat hangers in the wardrobes!
Owners were very friendly, breakfast was good.
bed was awful, sagged in the middle. Mouldy blind in bathroom, bedroom was warm but rest of house was cold. No tea/coffee facilities in room had to go to common room, only paper cups. Hadn't been told where breakfast was served and wandered around looking for it in the morning. Ended up knocking on kitchen door as no-one was around to ask. Had trouble finding guest house as it was down a dark road and there were no lights on the road indicating where it was.
loved the cosy atmosphere and great welcome. delicious homemade brown bread....
breakfast was full Irish etc but I would have appreciated fresh fruit salad.
The kindness and attentiveness of the staff made our stay at Gleann Fia a wonderful experience. The location is peaceful and extremely beautiful. And the house itself is beautiful and well kept. We want to go back!
Have stayed in Gleann Fia on many occasions and have always thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Would highly recommend it for a relaxing stay away.
The owners were friendly and had a great conversation with Bridget! One of the highlights of our trip!
Large bedroom and bathroom. Lovely large sitting room with a log fire and an honesty bar/tea making facilities. Excellent breakfast - our booking said 'buffet breakfast' included but Conor went beyond this with bacon & eggs. Delicious home-made bread, jam & honey!!
As well as having tea making facilities downstairs in the welcoming sitting room/conservatory it would have also been nice to have a kettle in the room.
Very helpful and thoughtful hosts; you really feel well looked after. The location feels as though you are deep in the country, and yet it is just a stroll from the centre of Killarney.
The owners were very friendly and helpful with local suggestions and receipts for the home made bread! Breakfast was very hearty but no choice in egg style.
Briget was a wonderful hostess and makes fabulous bread. The home was very comfortable, especially the conservatory. A great place to stay.
Home was beautiful and staff was fantastic.
Don't get a 3rd floor room if you are tall....kept hitting my head on the low ceilings/dormers.
Location just few minutes outside of city so convenient (with a car) and yet lovely to feel and enjoy the countryside. Very peaceful. Best of both worlds. Our room on first landing was very comfortable with own ensuite. Breakfast was most enjoyable, great sausages and eggs! Connor is a walking encyclopaedia, offering helpful advice and it was nice chatting with him, Briget and Jioti.
Sometimes the wifi not operating. Not uncommon throughout Ireland.
Very relaxed and spacious facilities in a large garden setting.. Connor provided lots of information re the area and things to do.
breakfast, the service, the building, the quietness, the hot showers, Conor and Bridget
TV was too high and too small, the WiFi was woeful in our room, because, Connor, the reception from your broadband provider is woeful, not because your WiFi system is poor
the genuine owners
Hosts Connor and Brigid very helpful and welcoming.Great breakfast.lovely grounds.
Noisy plumbing. Seating plan at breakfast a bit too formal. No kettle for tea and coffee making available in the room.
I liked the rooms---the sunporch was a nice amenity----they used the honor system so guests could help themselves to a drink , tea or coffee if they wanted to.
I didn't like that it seemed more like a hotel than a B&B
Bridget & Conor were fabulous hosts. Great breakfast, great location. Clean rooms, good shower. Good value.
Rooms rather small, hard to have 2 suitcases open at same time. Double beds (vs. queen or king).
Innkeepers Conor and Bridgit could not have been more helpful or welcoming. From the lovely sunny breakfast room to the honor bar lounge area, complete with badger story. We'd come again in a minute!
Gleann Fia Country House was a lovely place to stay. The staff were most helpful, the rooms were clean and beds comfortable. The grounds around the house were fantastic, with a stream running past the car park, and we even spotted deer grazing outside our bedroom window when we got up in the morning. The breakfast was delightfull with plenty of options, would stay there again in a heartbeat.
Charming host, generous overlooking garden and views. Good beakfast.
No tea or coffee making facilities in room but available in conservatory.
