We had bought tickets to Christy Moore in the INEC on the saturday night. This was probably the best part of the weekend. The gym facilitites were also good. The room given to us initially was disgraceful...window broken, lockers and other furntiure in the room were scratched, room was freezing, old and certainly not a 4* standard. I had to ring and ask to move rooms. In general other residents in the hotel were of an older generation (50+) therefore all entertainment was geared towards them. Staff were not overly friendly. Our dinner was served to us within minutes after our order was taken which would lead me to believe that it was heated in a microwave!! Mix up in the INEC re drinks. Initially told we could bring drinks into the concert in plastic glasses, when got to the door we were told no drinks allowed after all of our party buying 4 drinks each. I will not be recommending this hotel to anyone of my age.

It was convenient for the concert in the INEC, good breakfast, friendly staff Do not stay on the 5th floor, we stayed in room 515 and the whole corridor squaked with loose floorboards, we had a creaky one outside our room, very annoying. It was like if someone was pounding on the ceiling above us (we were on the top floor) The hotel is child friendly but there were kids running around everywhere, not what we enjoyed for socialising late at night ( what seemed like a creche)

I liked the price. I didn't like being woken up by housekeeping at 8.30am on a Bank Holiday Monday. The tables were very close together in the dining room for breakfast. We had no elbow room at all.

Good facilities - inec choice of restaurants gift shop No mini bar in room hotel appears to have a bad surface revamp with only minor improvements when walking to our room it was hard not to notice the old skirting boards and halll doors marked and dirty from use over time on our floor all the rooms on the right had newish keycard locks and on our side old fashioned keys. All the doors need to be either sanded and repainted of replaced. The walls were like cardboard with regards to the noise from rooms and all along the corridor around us were awoken several times during the night at rediculous hours by older residents. The bathtub outer panel was cracked, no shower hats curtain rail rusty it was clean but gave the impression of being run down and dirty. After seeing the state of the bathroom. I couldnt help but feel that the fabric above the bed was dusty. It felt more like a retirement home than a hotel. The buffet breakfast was the single worst I have ever had in a hotel selection was very poor little selection yogurts not labeled, no low fat milk or soy milk, no fruit we were not offered any tea/coffee couldn't help but feel rushed by the staff. After staying in Germn hotels we were very dissapointed with the buffet breakfast they cannot be compared. We went to a show in the inec on our stay and was charged full price not residents price when I went back I could see the girl on the desk was doing the same to another guest. The gift shop was handy for snacks seen as there was no mini bar but did not sell any alcoholic bevereges which would have been nice. Little details make a big impression and with little cost could be transformed into a flawless hotel it has all the potential and I'm sure it was once upon a time. It was disheartening to see the hotel it had me wishing I'd stayed in a b&b, I had expected this hotel to be alot more modernised like almost every other hotel I'd stayed in.

Attached to the inec we came straight out of a show and to our room - great for my young daughter! The view from our room was beautiful - we even saw deeer in the field across from the hotel. Right on the edge of Killarney - close to the town but on the edge of the county!

The gleneagle is a great hotel. Loads of entertainemt either in the inec or the ball room. Also a band started at 12 midnight in the residents bar. The rooms have been updated since I was last here and are much better now. There is a leisure centre and spa The breakfast was 15 euro each extra so we just booked room only and had breakfast in killarney town for 6 euro!

Near national park in Killarney. Large main swimming pool and children's swimming pool. Pool changing room facilities poor. No togs spinner. Guests have to pay to hire towels at pool. No lockers available. Poor internal signage in hotel.

For all it's faults, the hotel was exceptionally clean. A good choice of places to eat. The rooms were small and very old fashioned. Poor electrics in the room meant the lights didn't always work. Due to understaffing, our room wasn't ready when we arrived and there was no staff member available to help with our luggage. For a hotel marketing itself on being family friendly, we were surprised to learn you had to pay extra for the childs play area. Although rooms on our floor were no smoking, people were clearly smoking in their rooms and the smell of smoke was overpowering in the corridors. Children were allowed to run up and down the corridors well into the night, making it difficult to get our 14 month old baby settled. The lack of any locker facilities in the pool changing rooms was a little unnerving. All in all, the hotel was extremely outdated and badly in need of renovation. There was a complete lack of any personality about the place. The hotel caters for the family / cabaret Market.

I was staying for an event in the INEC as friend of one of the group, they stayed there too, so catching up was good and there was no travel or need to go outside for the show. Good choice of food with both formal restaurant and option of bar food in upstairs bar. It was a bonus to find that I now had free wifi in my room rather than just common areas, didn't have that last summer. Nice big airy room with somewhere to sit at a table, love having mugs rather than cups! Extensive refurbishment plans already underway, the rooms are going to be even nicer once that is complete. Can be very noisy in common areas when there are lots of music events on in the other venues of the hotel, but this is well away from the bedrooms.

The location is great, just outside the town which is great if you have kids and don't want to hear the hustle and bustle of the town. Good for families with a great teen zone room for the kids to hang out in the evening. Lots of little activities to fill up the day also, such as squash, tennis, pitch and putt etc. The pool was a good size too for children, kiddies pool was a decent size also. Would recommend and stay again! Layout of the hotel is very awkward as a result of multiple extensions. Finding the pool on the first day was an adventure, we could see it but couldn't figure out how to get to it. A few signs would of helped. The hotel is dated and sections need refurbishment, the bedrooms are getting a little tired but for price and facilities you can't grumble too much!

Staff were pleasant, facilities were there if you wanted to use them Spa, beauty salon etc, everything you needed was available, a shop, cash point, entertainment, bar food etc. The decor is quite dated. room cleaning was very late in the day from 1600hrs generally people go out during the day and come back to the room to rest before going out for the evening so that was a bit inconvenient.
