My husband and I stayed for one night. From the moment we entered reception we were made to feel special. Once checked in we were escorted to our room by the receptionist which was a lovely touch. She was such a friendly person and a great asset to the hotel. Hotel has a wonderful ambience and charm with open fires. Our highlight was dinner on "the Orient Express" which was an amazing experience and such fun. We will definitely be back.
Staff and manager were excellent, one of the nicest places have ever stayed a real must see. Will definitely Go back and the Pullman restaurant is a must to dine in aboard the train.Excellent food too.
Only negative was entertainment on the night was extremely poor and old fashioned in the oak cellar bar and we were forced to head into town along with two other of the couple's, when none of us wanted to leave beautifull surroundings. Also drink and cocktails are very very expensive.Other than that could find nothing to complain about.
Everything from start to finish was excellent. The staff especially Sandra were brilliant. They couldn't of been nicer. Really nice relaxing place.
Great location - only a few minutes from Galway city yet it feels like you are in the countryside - wonderful. Staff are fantastic, genuinely friendly and helpful, couldnt ask for better. The hotel is stunning, rooms are stately and impressive. The golf course is lovely and the scenery fantastic. Food in the restaurants is of a very high standard. Pullman restaurant on the old train is amazing
eccellent food and very friendly staff
The food& the accomdation
No leisure centre or swimming pool
Size of bedroom Cooked to order breakfast
As the rooms are large and tall, it takes a while to heat them due to old fashioned radiators. Rooms with connecting doors can be noisy.
Friendly and accommodating staff Wonderful sitting rooms Lovely pub with great food Inclusion of fabulous breakfast Free wifi! Beautiful grounds and scenery
Room and bathroom was a bit stuffy and warm Bathroom door closes automatically yet needs circulation
Liked the authenticity of the abbey and the style throughout
they led me to believe the Rail Carriage Restaurant would be open, and i had a booking for it, however, when I arrived i was told it was closed. Disappointing, as it is one of the hotels main features
Stayed there to attend a funeral Couldn't have asked for more. From friendly staff to open log fires! Wow
Everything was wonderful
We loved the staff; their friendliness and willingness to please. The atmosphere and the location were beautiful too...a bit Downton Abbeyesque..
We were somewhat disappointed with the three course meal, it was over priced at 55euro per person, it was nice food but not outstanding for the price and being in a 5 star hotel. Breakfast however, was outstanding! I was disappointed with the vintage hair-dryer in the bathroom, that took ages to dry my hair!
Good location just outside Galway, beautiful old building with the interior tastefully decorated. We had a wedding anniversary dinner in the restaurant (unfortunately the train section was closed), but nonetheless we had delicious food and the most kindest, helpful and thoughtful waitress we have ever experienced. So a special thank you to her and all the staff.
The Glenlo Abbey hotel is absolutely beautiful, very old world on the outside with the charming chapel and on the inside was all decked out for Christmas with trees, decorations and fireplaces in all the common rooms. The guest rooms were large and comfortable with a pull out bed that was able to accommodate our children. We stayed in 6 hotels in Ireland during our trip and the beds were equal in luxurious comfort to one other (which was double the price of the Glenlo). The staff was extremely polite and helpful. Despite it being New Years Eve, with no prior booking we were easily accommodated for a lovely dinner in their equally charming onsite pub. Breakfast was delicious and the atmosphere in the breakfast room with a beautiful tall Christmas tree and views from the windows was enchanting.
Nothing. The only negative was our own, I wished we could have stayed a night or two longer to enjoy the facilities and surrounding but sadly we were flying out the next day.
The room was big and very comfortable. Very friendly and efficient staff.
Piped music, very dated.
Location, fine old building with charicter, high ceilings in fablous grounds, bedrooms were fine also as was the breakfast
Meal in bar of poor quality, I had a rib eye steak which was tough and tasteless, my wife had an indian curry where the chicken was very scarce. We sat in drawing rooms after meal, fires went out with little effort by staff to revive them, ordered Irish coffees which were desperate, staff on duty late at night seemed poorly trained and some had a very poor commandpf English language
beautiful hotel and scenery. Hotel location is perfect for anyone who wants to see the city as well as the coast. Staff were more than helpful and very friendly at all times. Very good value for money - will be returning very soon
Food was great Staff where pleasant had a great stay
Cheese board selection more crackers needed as not enough for the various cheeses on platter. White Wine in room was not the best better wine required
We loved everything about this hotel. It was in a great location, staff were very helpful and very friendly. We will diffidently be staying there again as it was great value for money.
We did not dislike anything about this hotel it had everything we asked for, for a weekend break
Staff were very friendly, hotel very comfortable, food and drink very good.
A little far out of town (6K) - no Spa.
The open fires and candles, the fabulous flowers. Breakfast was wonderfu,l yummy pancakes. Totally perfect place to get away from the rain and the cares of the world.
We enjoyed the food , the experience on the orient express, the local people in the bar and the view from our room . thank you for a great week end . Merry Christmas. Colette
