Grand Central Hotel

hotel music playing late at night and very loud. we were on 4th floor but could still hear music as if it was in next room. not good enough when trying to get 3 year old to sleep. bar in hotel also charging 20 euro to get in leaving nowhere to have drink at hotel withot extra expense.

location is fantastic as it is right on main street with all bars, restaurants and beach within 2 mins walk. perfect for a night out as no taxi needed . the bar is lovely and although we did not eat dinner in hotel it looked and smelled really nice. bed was comfortable.

the rooms could do with a little updating - very sparse and old fashioned. Biggest let down was breakfast - lukewarm food slopped onto cold plates, you couldnt even see what was available becuase the food was in big stainless steel containers with lids, so you had to guess! make your own toast in one toaster that took ages - everyone queueing up, warm orange juice poured into dispenser from cartons by staff, no glasses for juice - people were using tea cups. to be honest if they put a bit of improvement into the breakfast and the staff serving it it would make a huge difference to my opinion of hotel - i was sorry bothered getting up for it!

there was nothing in particular i liked about this hotel, it was very average, it is in a good location, it is not the worst hotel i've stayed in

breakfast was cold and there was a smell in our room, which i reported to reception they said "they would take note of it"

The hotel was tacky. The room was like a furnice it was so warm. The double bed was so small that if an overweight couple were to stay they would not have fit in the bed. There was a blood stain on the shower curtain, it took 10 minutes to get shower to the correct temp and then it overflowed on the floor and there was an old dirty soap dispenser which I take it was for shower and shampoo and conditioner in one. The menu in the main restaurant was not very creative, with an egg mayonaise salad offered as a starter. I was very unsatisfied with the entire facilities.

When I arrived there was only one room booked when I had a reference indicating that I had booked two. The staff took a very long time to organise a second room for us and only did so on our insistence. They assumed we would go around the town in search of another place to stay. It was very unprofessional and not a good start to a holiday.

It was close to the beach, it was very reasonably priced and there was parking nearby.

Food was ok but not brilliant.

We were given a room at the very top of the hotel, an attic room. The water did not work when the toilet was flushed. The radiators made a noise all night.

Clean rooms, well equipped, . Good selection probably.

parking is 3euro per day, no shampoo in the bathroom, shower gel was provided though.

very central, good food, nice bar, huge room, friendly efficient staff, would stay again anytime.

Staff were very friendly, excellent location in town. Rooms very clean. Would recommend. Accommodated our late check in no problems.

We were told to sit at a table that had no tablecloths on it.....the whole restaurant was empty...thought for such a big hotel we should be able to sit where we wanted....and the scrambled egg was soggy...other than that it was fine
