I often find that travelling as a woman alone seems to cause discomfort to people. At breakfast, I was ignored by all staff who passed and repassed couples taking oders bringing tea/coffee/toast, for some 25 minutes. When finally, (and onlly when I got up to seek service & on direction from the hostess, did a waitress take my order. On serving same she turned away prior to placing coffee/toast on the table. I waited a further 25 - 30 minutes for my poached eggs (again brought by the hostess not by waitress staff) and at that time resembled items we used for handball in my youth.
I asked for a quiet room and the room was just beautiful, looking out on to Eyre Square and super quiet. Lovely high ceilings and very very comfortable. The hotel staff were excellent at check in (Thank you Bernie) and the Porter at night was very kind in finding me a sparkling water.
