The MaltonTown Centre, . Killarney (Show map) Wonderful, Score from 33 reviews“Everything was absolutely perfect. The hotel was gorgeous, food superb, rooms were of a good size. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Hotel in a great location. Will be back”

From its distinctive architecture to its effortless service and genuine hospitality, The Malton - formerly the Great Southern Hotel - has been a favorite retreat for over 150 years. After warming yourself by the open fire in the entrance hall, ease into a soft velvet sofa and enjoy afternoon tea. Enjoy the light as it streams through tall windows, ramble through the gardens, and rest for a while on a secluded bench. Where else are you going to find 6 acres of gardens in the center of a bustling town? This is life at The Malton, a Victorian landmark, and one of Ireland’s most beautiful hotels since 1854. I liked the Malton and would have rated most everything higher except for the fact that twice in the Sunday morning staff knocked on my door and attempted to enter the room, I had the chain on so they couldnt but I didnt get an apology either. My sleep was so disturbed by the second round I just got and left - not what I had expected from this standard hotel.

I was very impressed with the Malton. It was very comfortable, had old world charm. Being the depths of winter when I stayed there, there were lovely glowing fires to welcome you. The staff were excellent . Loation very good, if you are a shopper it is most convient to the town centre and it has an outlet centre on the doorstep. I stayed only one night but will definetly make it a longer stay next time, and will be recommending it to friends. This is being very fickle ,but, the butter that came with your bread was taken straihgt from the fridge so it was therefore impossible to spread. But that won,t stop me from staying there again.

The easy relaxed atmosphere and the cleanliness. The tranquility of the whole place yet so accessible to shops, restaurants, etc. On this occasion, we were unable to enter the grounds of the hotel from the car park as there were barriers put up in the openings between the car park and the hotel grounds - as the car park was busy on the day we arrived and on following days, this entailed a long walk from the furthest point of the car park to the main entrance.

Oh, there are so many plus factors! Where do I start? All I can say is that anyone going to Killarney for whatever reason should stay in this hotel!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Malton. When we arrived we were upgraded to a beautiful room at the front of the hotel - 214 - and we were thrilled. We also dined in the restaurant the first evening we arrived and the food was perfect as was the service. We would recommend the Malton to everyone we know - we had a wonderful relaxing time. It is very nice to come in after a day sightseeing and relax in one of your many comfortable rooms off the foyer. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable. There is absolutely nothing we did not like.

It was a home away from home. Friendly staff, clean hotel, impressive lobby. Much like staying in a grand manor house. The room we had was lovely but slighted dated. Nothing major and we would stay again.

very comfortable and convenient to town, My one criticism would be the reception staff constantly answered the phones while checking us in and again as I waited to check out. As above

Warm friendly staff, room was comfortable even if furniture little dated. Ideal hotel if location is priority and the leisure facilities are excellent. We would definitely stay here again, I didn't like that we had no fridge in d room.

We travelled on the shuttle bus to watch the golf in The Irish Open each day and we enjoyed the Street Carnival that was on each evening in the town.We had some nice meals at reasonable prices in the town.IOnly thing we did not like was the buffet breakfast. Would prefer to have it served freshly cooked. Would certainly go back again. Just the buffet breakfast.
