The hotel is comfortable, clean and the staff are great. I have 2 complaints however 1 the breakfast was most disappointing-the buffet arrangement esp the hot food reminded me of an old hospital canteen with the food wilting away under the metal dishes which were awkward to deal with. The sausages were of poor quality. The whole thing felt as tho it were thrown together. 2 My room, 207 - was close to some kind of very loud fan which i was reluctant to complain about as i had unpacked my things and was too exhausted after the journey to move room. There should be a warning for light sleepers.

Central Location - very convenient. Room was a bit stuffy with poor air circulation, even with the window opened.

I really liked the friendliness of the staff especially at breakfast and the reception staff were very nice and helpful. The cleaning staff were almost invisible but did a very good job of cleaning the rooms. The breakfast was also very nice , I had a cobweb in the corner of my room which I did not like. To be fair though I did not complain about it. I had supper in the Met bar 1 evening which was of a reasoinable quality but to be honest I did not find this area too clean especially the gap between the two pieces of wood which made up the round table top. I was just at the right height to see it whilst sitting and it's grubbiness put me off and I did not eat in the bar again during my 5 night stay Probably the staff did not notice the gap and only cleaned the top but it really needs looked at. .

Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and great location. As a business traveller it is essential nowadays to have free Wi-Fi access in order to carry out work whilst travelling. Some hotels still charge for this facility however the Gresham Metropole offer it in rooms free of charge. On this occassion this, plus Gym access, was a deciding factor in booking this hotel.

“The hotel upgraded us to a fantastic room with a balcony over looking the river. It was clean and stylish and was in a perfect location, with the bus station for airport buses a road away and a couple of minutes walk to main shopping and restaurant area. We had a fabulous time and will definately return to Cork and stay at the Clarion. ” Susan, Warrington, Cheshire |
