Score from 239 reviews Very good
The hostess was so sweet and really made us feel at home. We had a great night's sleep and didn't hear any noise from other rooms. There are two nice common areas for tea, snacks and reading. It was very close to Glendalough where we hiked, and there were a couple good restaurants/pubs nearby. Definitely recommend this B&B!
Modern clean friendly
Had to drive 2km for excellent breakfast The milk for the tea/coffee was left in a jug to clot, could use a small fridge
Great place with really big garden. Although few kilometers from the village itself, shuttle bus to and from restaurant is available. Atmosphere of the restaurant is really something we were looking and we really enjoyed our dinner, as well as breakfast, which is served there as well.
The overall quality of the stay.
EVERYTHING about this hotel from the staff to the driver to the quality of the hotel was, quite simply, outstanding. Cant wait for my next visit.
You would be hard pressed to not like anything at Trooperstown hotel.
The lady in charge was lovely. We were recommended a restaurant in town. We were collected and returned by their minivan. Lovely meal. Breakfast was in the same place. A lovely stay.
Great venue, lovely rooms and lounges. Nice large shower with strong pressure. Great free tea, coffee and biscuits. Housekeeper very efficient, friendly and accomodating.
Poor service from breakfast venue staff. Very abrupt and non responsive to customer request. No explanation of breakfast options or menu supplied.
Staff very accommodating. Valet service to & from restaurant
Wifi only worked in the lounge. Would have liked it to work in our room
The location and grounds that are outside the main village and set back from the road. Very comfortable room. Residents' lounge with free tea, coffee and biscuits. The housekeeper from Hungary was extremely helpful. Good food at the Heather in the village.
lovely setting, beautiful grounds.pretty homely clean, great value for money, peaceful, close to glendalough, manager Erica very pleasant, and helpful.lots of tea and good coffee.
no bad points.
We were made to feel very welcome from the start. The rooms were beautiful and very clean. I had obviously not read the small print as I did not realise that breakfast was served in a restaurant a mile away, but it wasn't far and the breakfast was well worth it.
Erica welcomed us, this was our first day in Ireland. The common areas are so comfortable, we had tea and cake served to us on arrival. Erica could not be more accommodating....thanks!
Erika is a treasure .the food in the heather is excellent and the staff are lovely.
Effusive welcome by manageress More like a gracious home than a guest house. extremely comfortable Taxi to breakfast at beautiful restaurant minutes away, then back! Tea, biscuits etc. in loungel, so friendly easy to mix with other guests.,
Erica was a brilliant, friendly host, luxurious room
Would like tea facilities in the room
Erika welcomed us kindly and showed us all around. She is gracious and hardworking. The rooms were nicely appointed and flexible. Breakfast was immense down the road at the associated restaurant.
“Trooperstown Woodlodge” located in the small town of Laragh in the gorgeous Wicklow Mountains is the perfect combination of a modern, clean, classy hotel and a warm, cozy, welcoming B&B. The Hungarian hostess who greeted us, Erica, was so sweet and helpful. Our room was nice, with a private view of the woods behind. Food at the B&B owners' restaurant, “The Wicklow Heathers” was very tasty (breakfast included, dinner slightly expensive). We sipped tea in the common “reading room”, which was lovely and relaxing. We felt that our stay was very reasonably priced for the overall experience.
Heard about the B&B owners, but never met them.
Personalised home accommodation. The B&B is linked to a near by restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Transport between provided.
We arrived much later than we planned after deciding to hike over a couple of Wicklow mountains instead of around them. By the time we arrived, we were afraid we'd be denied at the door. We were hungry, wet, filthy, and I'm quite certain, stinky! But Erica was so considerate. Not only did she ignore our appearance, she knew we were exhausted, and without hesitation, moved us into a larger room, in a quieter area of the house. Truth be told, we could have slept through an earthquake, but her gesture was very much appreciated. So was Sebastian and the quick meal he arranged for us at The Wicklow Heather. Despite being well after closing time, he hopped in the car, picked us up at the house, and sped us back to the restaurant. He actually apologized because they were technically closed and he could "only" offer us bread and soup. I can assure you, it was the best bread and soup ever! I should mention that the actual accommodations are every bit as comfortable as Erica and Sebastian are kind. Breakfast at the Heather was delicious and filling too!
Extra facilities such as two lounges plus good coffees, teas and biscuits. Housekeeper Erica was very helpful.
Breakfasts at owner's restaurant 1 mile away were a minor inconvenience. Creeky bed.
I loved all the special little details like the sink and the toilets. Someone did an excellent job decorating. We felt very welcome and taken care of. Anita was a great host and I would highly recommend this property to anyone.
Erica, in charge of the Lodge was brilliant. But it seemed odd that we never met the owners and we had to travel two miles down the road for breakfast! But, it all worked out, it was good value for money and the Wicklow Mountain area is fabulous.

Erica was very welcoming!
Booked as a gift for an English relative was honeymooning in Ireland. They were thrilled with the house, gardens, surrounding magnificent views and fabulous food. More than this they were astonished at the service and kindness of Erica
