The night porter very grumpy everyone else so nice
Not enough staff on in the bar, had to wait 20 minutes for a drink. Only one barman on and he was ran off his feet. No heater in smoking area.
Slight disadvantage with the car park charges
Friendliness off everyone that works there, so clean, so central and extremely comfortable beds
The pool area needs an update or at least a good clean! Felt more municipal then spa.
A bit musty could do with a refreshening coat of paint.
I liked the location of the hotel.
loved how close hotel was to main street and train station was a lovely hotel clean and lovely staff
The room we were given was so run down, paint on walls shabby, requested to be move As a 1* hotel would have been more upmarket!
The general hotel facilities were nice
In the room, we did not have a good kettle (mold inside the kettle - room 334) and also only pillow were very soft for us and there was only one extra pillow to help us out in the situation. Also the shower regulation was for replacement, completely worn out.
I like the simple access to all facilities in the hotel, clean rooms and common space, tasty comfort food in the hotel restaurant with very friendly and approachable waitresses.
After a long wait for our meal in the Charter bar one of our meals was extremely disappointing, but an alternative was offered and we didn't pay for the first.
Swimming pool was a bit dangerous
The room was very warm and even with control of the radiator, the heat persisted. Leaving a window open had minimal effect. So sleeping in the heat was a little uncomfortable.
Location was great. Beside the train and main Street. Staff were friendly . hotel pool and bar were good.
Staff was the best , spagos restaurant was a very delightful experience food and service
Atmosphere not as nice as the kilishem! Bar was deserted .Even id there was a little music it would have created a bit of an atmosphere .
Very helpful staff, service with a smile! The girlS AT RECEPTION WERE AMAZING.First impression were great
Parking, head receptionist.
The other stuff
Hotel ran out of food on the Sunday night. Ok they weren't expecting so many people to stay after a football match but our room was bookeda month ago. Had to eat out of the hotel. Breakfast next morning was similar. Had to wait on cooked meat, then bread came. Bit of a delay. Had stayed before but was a bit disappointed this time. Room needed a bit updating, dirty radiator/wall and the bathroom door locked itself from the outside& staff had to bring up a knife to open it! My parents stayed too but their room was fine so must've been just ours! Definitely wouldn't have paid any more than we did.
Paid €93 including breakfast. Good location, just behind the Main Street in portlaoise. Good pool etc.
Poor quality of Irish breakfast which was ordered to room. Cold and dry. One member of staff quite short with clients but overall managers and staff very helpful. Quite pricey for dated rooms.
Central location. Clean in room, bathroom and generally throughout all facilities.
Didn't like the dated TVs and bathrooms but everything was very clean most important thing
Service in this, so called 4 star hotel was very poor. not enough staff, poor leadership of staff, poor wi fi, no watchable tv picture. room keys not programmed. cold breakfast. overall very disappointing.
One of the best Weddings we have ever attended, the hotel was fantastic, venue, food & service excellent, would definitely recommend this hotel, it was outstanding.
Furniture in public foyer tatty and torn. Tables not cleared in the hour we were sitting there. Bedroom & facilities need to be updated to 4star level
buffet breakfasts don't work I put mine on a plate and asked for it to be put in a microwave Do chefs in Irish hotel ever taste the luke warm food that you have to eat Also there must have been 100 peoe at breakfast and everyone eats it.
Everything comfortable great atmosphere
Enjoyed my stay there it was warm comfortable friendly staff late check at 12 was great also great value
