we went on a mon and there still was a bit of a buzz around the hotel, great staff lovely food at a reasonable price,
There was nothing I didn't like
the relaxed atmosphere. the helpful staff the food the facilites
having to leave
The land scape round the hotel was fantastic along with the view over the water was wonderful
Found nothing wrong with the hotel
Went for rest and relaxation, got exactly that and more. The children free wing is brilliant, the spa facilities top notch and staff lovely.
To understand the room numbering system but once understood it makes perfect sense.
The breakfast area and food
The heat in the rooms
would like to stay again but it is a bit expencive
Everything, beautiful room overlooking the water. Breakfast was super, huge selection to chose from. Staff very friendly and helpful, look forward to returning.
Bit out of town
Scenic lakeside idyll with lingering lakeside views/wonderful fried breakfast especially the fried eggs so soft and runny!staff ever helpful especially a waiter Thomas who helped facilitate colleagues who were seeking a coeliac menu/also good to have local staff who were familiar with the area and could advise on tourist attractions/all in all a very enjoyable stay albeit a short one.
Poor signage to reach hotel /my room only had a view of courtyard whereas the end of the corridor had a full length window view of the lake I realise this is only a small gripe in the overall commentary on the hotel
Food and beer was great, staff was 100%
The hotel was far too warm, and the air con was controlled by reception so we could not have the air con on in our room when we really needed it. The breakfast room and bar was like a sauna.. I was forced to leave breakfast early as it was too hot to sit in or eat, and I had to sit outside in the beer garden because the bar was too hot to sit in, The air con was working 100% but was not activated, I can can only presume it was to reduce costs or prevent people from keeping the aircon on while not in there room. There was also 2 open unused condoms and a pair of shorts on our window sill when we arrived, they were still there when we left!
everything,the staff were so nice,in the bar,reception,all over,lovely hotel,nice room,big bathroom,good food,nice setting,great to be able to take the boat into town,and what a lovely trip
only something which I think is probably impossible to keep as it is in front of the river and that is the front of the hotel could do with a good wash around the windows and front wall but as I said I am sure it is not easy when it is waterfront
the whole set up including the really fine weather.
a little difficult to locate coming through athlone
Room, location & facilities were excellent
It was a Sunday night and I felt the Hotel was understaffed.
Having to leave .
Our family reunion which consisted of a hot buffet for 50 guests was excellent. Jacob the Banqueting Manager looked after our group so well, with the help of his staff, he went beyond his call of duty to ensure everything ran smoothly and that the food was served on time & therefore fresh & hot. A great ngt was had by all.
Only annoyance was the card to unlock bedroom door would not work on three separate occasions. Staff were quick to attend to this but it was annoying reaching your room and not being able to get in straight away. Was told on 3rd call out that possibly having the card next to mobile phone can cause card info to be deleted!
great pool facilities, very obliging with late check out
general poor hygiene e.g. sticky door handles, crockery not polished on removal from dishwasher resulting in bits of dried food being left on
Bad food service in the bar may be explained by the fact that it was late
The staff were all very well trained and attentive. The hotel location is beautiful. The breakfast and lunch we had in the hotel were also very good.
The bed was much too soft for my liking, and as such I didn't sleep well. Our en-suite bathroom door didn't shut properly. There was a free-standing (empty) fridge in our room, which looked very odd and out of place. The room decor was quite basic. The tea/coffee facilities were hidden in a drawer. The car parking was a bit stretched, and it was a long walk from the car to reception.
Friendly staff with genuine interest in the customers, beautiful food, a relaxing atmosphere all around the hotel. We enjoyed the setting of the lake side and the boats. wonderful value for 3 days in such a lovely hotel. Congratulations to all staff.
Nothing we didn't like. Just a comment-- More detailed local information and maps would be welcome. A missed opportunity to sell the many interesting things to do and see in the area, especially Derryglad Folk Museum that we eventually found, a wonderful recall of times past.
crowded, no walk around possible, rooms is fair clean
Hotel , staff and food was excellent ,
The shower in our room was grubby, not sure if it was mould but looked unsightly
The hotel is in a fabulous setting...We had a great room with a view of the lake. We took the viking boat into athlone and visited the castle there. The breakfast was very fresh and tasty...We had dinner in the waterfront bar and it was really nice....also the staff were very helpful and pleasant.
I think we were lucky to get a room with a lake view as we hadn't requested it when booking and the hotel was busy with bus tours. So I think you should mention lake view when booking .otherwise you may be disappointed.
Location was lovely, the view from the front was beautiful, and the staff couldn't have been more helpful and nice. The food was excellent especially the breakfast buffet, probably the best one I have experienced. I did some painting while I was there and the staff helped me to get a chair etc.
The duvet on the bed was unusual and seemed to be made from a material which was light but very warm. This would be ideal in winter but we stayed during a beautiful warm spell. Not complaining about that, obviously we loved it but we had to remove the cover because it was too warm.
