One member of bar staff was plesant
unmanned reception on arrival had to go and look for someone to sign us in, that person was not friendly or even pleasant made us feel like we were a nuisance to him. There is a lift but weren't told about it and, you have to get permission to use it!! the room was dirty and, cramped and over heated, with no option to turn the heating down, the windows didn't work properly one we couldn't open and the other we couldn't close, the bathroom was a joke, a toilet that measured 24" wall to wall and a shower that wasn't much bigger, no bath. We stayed in room 10 and the view was a brick wall that overlooked a bus depot, and the bins. Carpets through out the hotel were filthy. In general this hotel could benefit from a complete refurbishment and a change of staff wouldn't go amiss. Would not recommend this hotel and would not consider staying there again.
Food Atmosphere Welcome Staff friendly
Really can't say there was anything I did not like about the Island View Hotel
everything .The staff especially Rose were very welcoming and went the extra mile to make you feel welcome. The views over the Bay at Breakfast stunning and a sight to behold. The music and friendly atmosphere in the bar as we listed to Irish folk music .Rooms very comfortable . Thoroughly recommend this hotel .The 2 star does not do it justice.
The stay was to short would have shoud have stayed longer.
The beds were clean. It was fairly economical.
The showers were gross. There were no wash clothes. I had to wait to park bc all the parking spots were taken. There was a bar downstairs so I had to listen to their music all night. It was pretty obvious the rooms here are just empty spaces the bar/restaurant downstairs wasn't using.
Lovely location excellent restaurant rooms a bit tired could do with a make over comfortable beds
View from bedroom was bad.
The room was clean with nice comfortable bed. Very close to Malahide village and the beach.
///r They are Irish and live up to it, very friendly and witty.
Food was very good, staff friendly
It could do with a face lift all over.
Food was excellent. Staff very friendly and. helpful..
Room quite dated, though clean. View from room was on to a dirty yard!
Nothing about it.
We booked breakfast but had to cancel because boiled eggs were not available. No fruit or yoghurt on offer. Felt that at 7.50 euro there would be better value nearby. Reception staff frequently absent.
Convenient to Malahide.
Lack of secure car parking space. Broken and missing window catches. Wasn't given any cereal at breakfast.
Location Value for money
Small rooms bathroom grubby no nets on window and were over looked. No room service adjoining bar staff new nothing of what I asked no one on reception no wi fi couldn't ring to reception not enough info on your stay.Hall stairs and landing full of rips in the carpet. Double room is too singles pushed together very uncomfortable. Woken up by hotel staff wheeling trollies into the yard. Wasn't even asked on checkout did we enjoy our stay nothing.. I didn't want to pay..
Food was good value for money
The bedroom was overlooking the rear of the hotel which housed the oil tanks etc.It was also rather noisey
Right on the beach road.
This is a busy, bar-restaurant with rooms calling itself a "hotel". Carpets were worn out. Room, bed and shower were fine, toilet was loose from the floor. No guest parking in their own lot. Worst, a large fridge-freezer motor kept me awake half the night. All in, pretty poor.
Nice comfortable bed and temperature in room was just right. Room on same floor as restaurant which was handy. Nice view from restaurant.
A lot of noise from outside the window during the day til we left the room at 8pm sounded like a fan or a generator. Had to close the curtains when i was changing as there was a man working outside my window at one stage. Staff were not that friendly. Phone in room was disconnected from reception it seemed so couldn't phone reception. Had to go online on our phone to look up the hotels phone number just to try phone someone in reception but no answer. Looked up Oscar Taylor's restaurant ph number online too but same ph number so no answer. Went for breakfast at 9:15am and my boyfriend had to walk around to the bar to find staff. He then asked politely could he order breakfast,a blonde middle aged woman pretty much guided him back out and told us we have to sit at one of the few tables that were made up,yet the table I sat out appeared made up. We moved anyway to the table she pointed too&she disappeared for 5mins.she returned & said "2 full breakfasts is it?" In general she was just not friendly, and we felt we were a huge inconvenience.I checked the breakfast times back at the room and it stated til 10 so it wasn't like we were late at all. Finally, check out was 12pm and the same woman knocked on my door at 11:55 & when I answered the door she held her hands out & gestured at me as if to say "can you leave now" so I said I will be ready to check out at 12. This really annoyed me as she didn't even say "excuse me,sorry to interupt etc just checking that your aware that the check out time is 12"or something polite & of that nature. I won't be staying here again. Ive never been in a hotel where they have knocked on your door before the check out time.
Gr8 location, good atmosphere in bar..
Had to search for receptionist who turned out to be the barman. Reception appeared grubby and in need of a Hoover...rooms were outdated and in need of a revamp...
Location was excellent..rooms were clean and comfortable..breakfast excellent..good WiFi..
Rooms are above a bar so a little bit of nosie. Quiet after bar closed..
Great location good carvery and bar Staff very helpful...good value breakfast
Resident parking is hit and miss due to public access..Lock on room door wasnt great...
Position good. On-site restaurant. Friendly staff.
Noise from kitchen extractor unit and accompanying smell in back rooms.
Room was good size, bright and comfortable. Staff were more than helpful and no request was a problem. Great location opposite beach and 5 mins walk to Malahide village.
Nothing really. Maybe update information folder, bus timetables from 2007! Its not the Ritz, it doesnt claim to be but Id happily stay there again.
Location good, food was good and plenty of it, staff good in bar but thats about it, ,
The room we got was right beside an extraction unit, noise all night, people banging doors all night, price was to much for this hotel, well its not a hotel,on website says 80 euro with breckie, then they charge you 95 thats 7.50 extra each for breckie,
