Jackson's Hotel, Conference & Leisure Centre

Friendly and welcoming staff; comfortable spacious room including bath and shower; free wifi in room very useful; well located to the road network and nearby town centre for non-hotel meals or convenience shopping. Did not have time on this trip to use leisure facilities but looked inviting. Would recommend staying here.

Arrived very late in the evening and could not find location of the hotel - not on the main street in the town as mapping would indicate but contacted the hotel and they gave friendly accurate directions.

I found that all the staff and locals were very friendly and welcoming. Hotel was situated in the centre of town close to all amenities. Waiting staff in restaurant exceptionally nice and pleasant.

I only stayed for one night and I will certainly use this hotel again if I have to return on business.Hotel was warm and cosy. The bed I slept in was very comfortable and clean. Tea making facilities in the room and that is a plus in my mind.

The leisure centre was excellent. There was a good -sized swimming pool with extremely helpful staff.

The bedroom had no heating on the Saturday evening. I turned the radiator to maximum at 6:00pm and went out. On my return, at 11:00pm, the room was still cold with no heat in the radiator. As it was late I went to bed and when I awoke at 7:00am the radiator was warm although the room was still chilly. The shower tap fell off when I tried to turn the shower on. It is a heavy tap and could have caused considerable damage had it fallen on my foot - obviously a long-standing problem as there were quite a number of small chips in the shower tray underneath the tap. On arrival I was ignored at the reception desk and when allocated a room was asked for payment in advance. At 7:45am the corridor outside my room was in darkness with no light switch.

Friendly atmosphere with good leisure facilities.

Very creaky floorboards that made sleeping difficult with guest above and outside on the corridors.

Good clean modern room. Great variety of meals available in a relaxed and spacious atmostphere. Staff mor than helpful.

Location and setting. Breakfast Excellent

Grill on Tuesday evening. Poor service and severe delay in serving of food. Other guests who arrived 20mins after us got both starters and main before we got our food. No rolls offered to us but the others had rolls offered. Extreemly expensive for such poor service. When we asked for rolls we were told there would be a 10 min delay. Chips inedible and when we commented our comments was ignored

Easy access to the spa & pool, good standing, pretty comfortable place overall. The staff is nice and helpful. not to mention the Restaurant which is a very good standard and affordable.

Hotel was central and room spacious and well equipped. Lovely view from our room. Breakfast was excellent and staff very friendly and helpful.

Room decor was bit dated, but that is only a minor thing - overall very good.
