Friendly atmosphere with good leisure facilities. Very creaky floorboards that made sleeping difficult with guest above and outside on the corridors. |

Location and setting. Breakfast Excellent Grill on Tuesday evening. Poor service and severe delay in serving of food. Other guests who arrived 20mins after us got both starters and main before we got our food. No rolls offered to us but the others had rolls offered. Extreemly expensive for such poor service. When we asked for rolls we were told there would be a 10 min delay. Chips inedible and when we commented our comments was ignored |

The staff were very welcoming and freindly. Breakfast was fair but not great. I booked a massage and found the treatment area very poor and shabby. |

Hotel was central and room spacious and well equipped. Lovely view from our room. Breakfast was excellent and staff very friendly and helpful. Room decor was bit dated, but that is only a minor thing - overall very good. |

The room was comfortable and roomy. One of the waiters in the restaurant - his uniform was quite dirty and whilst the dog was cute that was wandering around I don't think it would comply with health and safety regulations. |

The hotel owner and the staff that we met were all very friendly and welcoming. The overall ambience of the hotel was so down to earth yet very professional at the same time. The only thing anyway negative I can say is that the rooms are a bit dated but there did seem to be more up to date rooms so I dont know why we were not given one of these unless they were booked up. |

The size of the hotel is quite a surprise for a place like Ballyboffey but it has an extra wing for conferences so perhaps its location is not that important. We were pleased to be upgraded to a room in the conference wing which was nice enough and comfortable. The main hotel is older but with a pleasant dining room and lounge the latter including a cheerful coal fire. The menu for dinner included a special meal at an inclusive price which represented good value particularly as a bottle of wine was included. Our car was parked below ground in a secure area which is always reassuring. A problem we encountered on reaching the town is that the the hotel is off the main road and not well signed. As the conference centre was not being used for that purpose the building was closed which meant a tortuous trip using lifts to get the first floor which involved a walk to access another before we found our room. OK unless you have your luggage with you. Our evening meal, although enjoyable, was disappointing in that our main course did not arrive all at the same time. Our very pleasant waitress was multitasking and it seemed staffing had been reduced to a minimum. When we received our bill on checking out, the 'free' bottle of wine had been charged at Euro 29 so it was as well we noticed this and had it taken off. |

Great location - in an hour you can be in the most beautiful countryside and visit superb beaches without equal. The hotel is cosy/warm with excellent staff and offers super food in their bistro resturaunt. Well appointed and modern bedrooms complete the picture. Highly recommended. |
