Lovely old world building in a spectacular Irish Mountain and Forrest setting in a friendly area of the country. Even got invited to lunch in a local family home! Thanks to Liam, Tommy, Carol, the Leisure Centre Staff and the cleaning staff for making my trip memorable.
There was one receptionist who shall remain nameless who had a bad attitude but what can you do? Food was below average. Don't like to criticise but I am hoping to will address this issue for my next trip.
Stayed in the suite, bed was very noisy I
Location. Old world feel of the lobby and bar area... esp all the old wedding photos. Pure nostalgia. If ever doing renovations, do not change!!! Food and value for money.
Bedroom clean. beds good. but bit dated. Needs a fresh eye rather than a make-over. TV tiny... With a little tweaking, this would be a wonderful getaway destination. I will be back, I hope.
nice family run hotel
The welcome, the staff, everything really !
Everything about this hotel was excellent, espically the quite surroundings, a quite relaxed 2 night stay. The staff were friendly and breakfast was fantastic.
The lounge area and bar was nice. The barman was very helpful and the food was nice. Breakfast was good and had a nice view in the morning.
Room was over the kitchen and was very noisy. The barman did get the cook to turn his radio down when we asked him, so that was good.
Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Very clean and comfortable bed in a quiet warm room. Excellent breakfast cooked exactly as requested.
Couldn't spend more time there.
Very friendly staff. Nice and quiet.
Bedroom and bed were small. Problem with access after hours. We knew that we were going to be late and had checked in earlier so as to get a key and avoid a problem. We were assured that a night porter would let us in after hours. No answer to doorbell and we then noticed a note giving us two numbers to ring. No answer to first. Got a reply to second and allowed in after a few minutes standing in the cold. We would have been in trouble if we didn't have a phone.
Great lounge, Portions were plentiful. Price was as good as, and perhaps even better than b&bs. Great sized room. Absolutely best value we found in Ireland.
Breakfast in the restaurant was a little slow as there was only one server on.
Beautiful views of the knockmealdown mountains....very picturesque. They have a small leisure centre but it could do with a revamp. Nice bar food but very old tv in room and poor lighting
No walk-in shower. No remote control for tv?! Very poor lighting in room. No heat as weather turned cold but no sign of heat coming on. Bathroom not suitable for the physically challenged. You have to make your own toast!!
Everything - fabulous Guinness, great staff with terrific sense of humour, beautiful hotel in beautiful surroundings - how it should be
This place had a lot of old charm and friendly staff and locals.
Staff always went the extra mile to please us and ensure that everything was ok
Fantastic room, I booked a suite, staying in room 18. Four poster bed, loads of space and some beautiful period furniture. Bar food was excellent, I would recommend the steaks, although service was slow. Lovely ambiance, friendly and engaging staff.
Limited breakfast range available although the fry was fantastic. Plumbing in the ensuite was dated, with a lack of hot water for a shower when we initially arrived. Investemnt in this area would be money well spent.
Friendliness of staff. Greeted with enthusiasm and interest. We were leaving very early but breakfast was still offered - outside of normal hours. Our stay was faultless and amazing value for money at €55 for the room.
Nice hotel, lovely friendly staff, food we had was very good and served quite quickly.
Staff brilliant, excellant people skills. Very helpful and attentive. Food very good but strange not many people use restaurant although hotel full.
Unfortunately we had 5 ladies billeted near us and they could be rather boisterous. Bedroom needs some TLC.
We didn't really enjoy any of the food.
The food was lovely and staff couldn't have been nicer
The room was so dated. Carpet was in bad need of clean and the curtains were hanging off the pole. The tv in room was tiny wit no remote control. Although food was lovely we had to wait half hour for our breakfast the first morning. Also a long wait for our finner
Building, atmosphere, location, comfort, friendliness, hospitality and good service
The hotel has a lovely comfortable old fashioned feel to it and was very pleasant to relax in. I was on my own but I was given a very nice big room. My buffet breakfast was very nice too.
I would have liked net curtains on my window as I was on the ground floor at the back but had to pull over big curtains for privacy in the daylight.
Location was fine. Easy to find from motorway.
Decoration shabby, in need of good update. We had room over main entrance-noise of front door slamming from 7 a.m. onwards disrupted what would have been a welcome lie-in! Bathroom had dubious repairs to panels and tap on sink was loose. Meals in restaurant were of poor quality and highly priced.Room not cleaned-carpet covered in 'bits'
