Location ideal for Kilkenny and staff and facilities were brilliant
Facilities, nice gym and pool. Bar was well designed and food was good. Quirky design of corridors and Skyline room looks great as a function room or wedding.
Very disappointed with the room, especially for a 4 star hotel. No fridge and no safety deposit box, standard in most 4 star hotels. The bed was terrible with a small and thin mattress and a duvet that barely covers two people. Bathroom was shabby and very dated, paint peeling and rust on shower rail. Wifi was dreadful in the room. I suppose the best word to describe the room is shabby. Not like the photos on the hotel website at all. Just to point out, this was the standard room and not the upgraded one. Such a pity really as everything else about the hotel was nice but we paid for the room, not the facilities which were not used.
the waiter was top class, the (elderly man),booked us a table in ripleys steak house, top class
i asked for room upgrade when i was booking,as it was my wifes 40th,asked again while checking in was told there was none now,i should have asked for one earlier ?????
Girl on reception extremely accommodating!
Swimming pool very cold, jacuzzi out of order!
Proximity to town, staff friendliness, comfort of the hotel
Parking can be a problem if you get in late and the spaces closest to the hotel are gone
Cold room cold lobby cold bar ,
Our room was lovely and very clean. All about the bedroom was great.
The restaurant staff were not so good. The crokery and glassware was dirty and glass had lipstick on it. I did not like the fact that the shower was in the bath and not seperate.
Very nice hotel 15 min walk from the town. Delicious buffet breakfast with a good variety of healthy options. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean room and bathroom.
Hotel was spotless and food in the bar and breakfast was gorgeous
I've stayed a few times now and I just love everything about the Hotel Kilkenny!! Location, price, the rooms and the staff are just great!! We'll definitely be back!!
Our previous stay was better (deluxe room).
Dinner very bad. Standard room a little grotty & a disappointment......needs refurbishment. Skirting along hallway chipped & painted over!!!!
Staff were wonderful, food great
Staff in the pure bar were lovely, the food was also good (but overpriced) with live music the night we stayed.
We paid for a "deluxe" room which turned out to be a pair of single beds pushed together with a double duvet on which made for a very uncomfortable nights sleep. I also would have expected a separate shower in a deluxe bathroom. The bath had some chips but was clean. We then got up feeling tired and looking forward to a nice breakfast only to be left waiting 40 minutes from the time we ordered. Everyone in our area that ordered at the same time were leaving having had their breakfast when we were being served. There seemed to be a lack of communication between the staff. All in all we were disappointed with stay
Didn't spend much time in the hotel, but the most noticeable part of our stay was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Aoife, at reception, was particularly good at making us feel welcome and helping us out!
Internet wasn't great in the bedroom & the room was cold.
*room was big, beautifully decorated & bed was comfortable *breakfast was excellant *good location
*room was abit chilly at times *breakfast times were early but worth getting up for
Great location, easy walking distance to city centre. Nice quite well appointed room. Staff very nice and friendly. Public areas and bar very nice.
Scrambled eggs for breakfast were awful!
Clean but run down
Room very far from lift and stairs, dragging back and fort with small child not great. Had food in bar, starter was nice but main was a disaster, had lasagna looked horrible & tasted even worse, exchanged for stir fry & was just as bad, wife had to ask for sauce for steak and had to ask where was baby bowl for our little one cause no sign of it, service wasn't great & they weren't even busy, on check out receptionist didn't even ask us how was our stay or nothing just handed us bill and that was it not even safe journey or anything she seemed very cold and unwelcoming definitely won't be back
Service was the worst I ever came across waiting over a half hour for breakfast and after all that the full irish was cold and more like a mini breakfast!!!
Hotel Kilkenny is a pleasant 15 minute walk from the city centre.Staff friendly/efficient,room comfortable, breakfast excellent.
Children/babies running around the foyer/ bar at 10.30pm,clearly states in the hotel brochure NO children allowed in bar after 9pm,more like a nursery than a bar a real NO NO,there's a good bar with a good atmosphere across the road from hotel.
The double bed in our room was two single beds joined together. The seam in the centre was very uncomfortable to lie on, as result I had a broken sleep. When you book a double room you would expect a double bed to sleep on. This was a disappointing aspect with our stay.
What an excellent hotel great location staff are brilliant. The rooms are amazin. Couldn't have asked for better. We will definitely be back again very soon.
Fab hotel with great, helpful staff. We always enjoy our stay with you!
It was a short walk to the City Centre and Kilkenny Castle. Easy accessibility for walks to various locations.
Older man serving in bar a gentleman
Two single beds pushed together and made up as double. A joke to be honest. Did change rooms straight away when asked but shouldn't happen in the first place
