Nestled on the shores of Loch Lein, The Lake Hotel has magnificent mountain views. Just a mile from Killarney the hotel has rooms with private bathrooms, a restaurant and an outdoor jacuzzi. Rooms at the 4-star family-run hotel have baths and shower. They also have satellite TVs, hair dryers and most rooms have countryside views, some have balconies. Morning coffee is served in the Sun Lounge while traditional breakfasts are available in the dining room. Fine Irish cuisine is on the menu at Castlelough Restaurant which overlooks the grounds. The location is simply superb, the view from window or balcony constantly changes as the weather does. The staff are helpful and friendly without being intrusive. The food is fresh, local and imaginitively prepared and presented. The grounds are beautiful to walk in, both by day or night. On an after dinner stroll you can round a corner and suddenly behold a magnificent stag grazing. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with restful decor, and the general ambience of the Lake Hotel is of comfort, understated luxury and old world friendliness and charm.

I have stayed a number of times and I particularly enjoy the ambience of the hotel. The staff are very helpful, food is excellent and the rooms are first class. To make it even better the view from the hotel is spectacular over the lake. I would not stay in another hotel in the Killarney region because the hotel is so good

This is a delightful hotel set on the edge of the lake in Killarney and with it's own ruined castle on the property. The room we had was in the newer section with a lake view and was spectacular. We had dinner in the bar and were impressed with the service and food quality. The hotel has an old world feel about it and is very quiet as it is out of town a little bit, although within walking distance. Killarney itself is a beautiful tourist town set in an equally beautiful part of Ireland. Internet didn't work in our room.

Lovely location. The hotel has a large country house feel to it with lots of lounges, log fires. A large classical dining room. Good food.Used sauna and steam room, also sat in the hot tub in the rain.Hotel is easy to find. Hoping to stay again.

The superb location and the consistently helpful and friendly staff. It is a hotel you simply want to keep coming back to. Not so much a dislike, more a suggestion. A few potted shrubs would brighten up the outdoor area adjoining the bar.

Nice hotel and I would stay again if it was more affordable. 175 euro for one seemed a little high but I understand the room was a deluxe one

It had a beautiful setting and the view from the dining room was magnificent. Staff were very helpful and the bedroom was comfortable. I stayed in the hotel for 2 night. My experience of the dining room is quite negative. On Saturday night there were lots of children running in and out behind my chair while I was trying to eat my meal. I complained twice to the staff and they spoke to the parents but they continued to run in and out. These same children were also running up and down the stairs with no supervision. They regarded the hotel as a play area. It was a shame that the parents had no respect for other guests. If I didn't have this negative experience I would recommend it to friends.

The location of the Lake Hotel is very beautiful, and near Killarney without being in town. The food at breakfast, which was an extra charge, was very good, and the dining area looks over the lake and the ruins of an old castle with the mountains in the background. Also, there was free wifi (a little spotty) and the front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. I did not think the room we were given was worth even half of what we paid!! Completely outdated furniture, the mattress was exposed at the bottom and looked old and creepy, very old carpet, and the couch was even coming apart in places! Yuck!! We did have a nice view, and the bathroom was okay, but, I was extremely irritated to discover on the day we left, that there is a newer part of the hotel that looks really nice, and has balconies overlooking the lake! I would not stay here again, as I felt cheated when it came to the room. I loved the Ring of Kerry, but Killarney in general is over-rated. Killorglin looked much more charming, and is also on the Ring of Kerry.
