Scenic Location. Appearance a little neglected. Fire lit in bar was allowed to go out! No lift in hotel. Had to haul luggage up/down stairs. |

We only stayed one night but we liked the hotels olde worlde charm and relxed, comfortable atmosphere. Would prefer king size bed! And did not like the taste of the tea at breakfast! |

fantastic views though the online picture is a bit untruthful. Bar and drawing room exquisite. Hallway very impressive. Rooms very basic but comfortable. Food good. We had a terrible steak. The waiter was very unhelpful and told us that we got a bad steak because the kitchen was being cleaned at the time and also that we had been too late ordering even though we were within the time. Then when our mwal was finished and we went to order our dessert we were told that it was too late and the kitchen was closed. We had all been looking forward to a very special meal complete with dessert. This was a pity. Then the waiter said hed charge us for a half portion of steak even though it was inedible. Otherwise food good. Breakfast bit of a let down also. also we were woken late by the people in the room above us and kept awake for quite a while. It was as if the ceiling was going to come down on us! |

Food was excellent and the room we finally ended up in had stunning views of the fjord. The lounge area was also a big plus and virtually all the staff were friendly and helpful. The room that we were booked into initially was a big disappointment and certainly was not good value for money although fortunately we had it changed to one with great views of the fjord --- a massive improvement --- I just wonder why we were not given this one in the first place when it was available. |

Hotel has character. Nicely furnished. Restarant is overpriced, food less than average. Staff had poor understanding of english. Could not explain how menu items are prepared other than "cooked." Not necessarily their fault, but there didn't appear to be anyone in charge who could help. For the price, would expect a lot better. |

Fiona! She was professional, friendly, and entirely capable of problem-solving ten issues simultaneously, with a smile. The hotel lobby and sitting room are funky and interesting. Rooms and food were average, but the pub is quite nice, especially when the fire is going. Fantastic location! |

The hotel location is excellent, right beside the sea, with wonderful views. The room was very clean and comfortable, and we had a very pleasant stay. The overall approach of staff could be improved. A better greeting on arrival, coupled with good wishes on departure would help. |

~There was no welcome on arrival only a cursory "yes". When I asked about food I got conflicting messages from three members of staff. When we checked out we were not even asked whether we had enjoyed our stay or whether everything had been all right. In short, though the setting of the hotel is wonderful, the welcome and service were the poorest we encountered on our trip to Ireland (we stayed in 7 different locations). |

The location was absolutely beautiful. It is situated on the only Fjord in Ireland. Very quaint village with lots of outdoor things to do. This hotel was a great find. It is off the beaten path and close to Kylemore Abby. If you want to see a part of Ireland untouched by major tourism, this is the place to go. Our stay was too short. We would have liked to stay longer but ran out of time. |

The peace and quiet of the area, the open warmth of the people and the magnificent scenery. We found the restaurant menu lacked variety and imagination for guests staying more than a couple of nights. |

I loved the room - I was there as a single, so the small double was perfect. It would have been a bit of a squash for two. The view was a delight. Great bathroom and shower. The bar was good and the big sitting room was great. I was there with a group of friends and we had plenty of space to sit and chat, which we did until late with no bother from staff. Good wine. The housekeeper was not as friendly as she might have been and some in the group had a feeling that because the hotel caters for one-off tourists they were less attentive than they could have been. |

good value, nice atmosphere, good barstaff. The lounge is very pleasant, and the room was very comfortable for the price, with a great view. The breakfast was fine. The reception (management?) could have been a bit warmer/more visible. It's a pity there's no lift, as one of our party was on crutches and found it difficult to cope. The bar food was not great.(However, the bar staff were very nice.) My room was very cold at first, but once the heat came on in the evening it was fine. |
