The rooms are comfortable and well appointed and the restaurant is generally excellent for families and is good with children. There is a good gym and pool open to hotel residents where most of the locals in Roscommon go as gym members. It is near the centre of Roscommon Town so we could go out on foot to the shops and restaurants there easily. Would it be possible to warn people in advance that pool users need a swimming cap? The bath towels are ok but larger ones would be luxurious!

convenient for visiting family Our last night was disturbed by a very loud airlock in their water system. This could also be heard in the day time so they need to address this problem

In a quiet location not far from athlone.Leisure centre very nice.Hotel staff very friendly and very helpfull,food in bar very nice.Rooms big and very clean

I enjoyed my short stay very much. Loved the hotel and plan to return soon. My only complaint would be the way coffee was served at breakfast - by the cup. I was not ready for a refill when first offered it. When I really needed the refill I was left waiting and had actually finished my breakfast by the time I got it. A pot of coffee would have been better.

As a family with young children we had enjoyed our stay in the Abbey Hotel and could not fault a single thing. The price was good and so was the service. The buffet breakfast was great as there was something for everyones taste. The room was clean, comfy and warm. We loved the Abbey Hotel and will definitely return for another visit!

Although it has the service, the smartly attired staff and facilities of a top hotel, it also manages to convey the laid back informality I love about Ireland. They were first rate in hosting my niece and nephews wedding reception, many thanks for our time there.

The hotel was nice but is in need of some redecoration, quite grubby/dated in appearance inside. Staff were helpful. Room was spacious. Cooked breakfast was terribly greasy. Tv was terrible, bad reception, dated & small. No way to control temperature (or lack of) on the radiators. Just as well there was no need to have them on. Hair Dryer in the room was no good, no power & burnt itself out very quickly.

The room was spacious and comfortable. We chose your Hotel because of the facilities vailable and because it was in a good position for travelling around. We were delighted with the breakfasts and the bar meals. By no means least, the staff were friendly and helpful. Thank you for a pleasant and relaxing time with you. On entering Roscommon on the Galway Road we missed your sign and had to ask our way in a nearby Garage. A more prominent sign at the main entrance would be helpful

Very comfortable and professionally run hotel which caters well for all ages. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed and the service is good. We were there for a family wedding and were made very welcome. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is also well placed for the town centre. The leisure centre is good and we had a swim and used the gym. If I could change 2 things they would be : the bath towels- make them the size you have in the leisure centre the buffet breakfast at the weekend. The scrambled eggs were hard. I now know I could have asked for some poached eggs but it wasn't pointed out at the time.

The food was pretty good and the front lawn was lovely. Also, the friary behind the hotel was interesting The requirement for a swim hat seemed out-of-date and pretentious. Also, the hotel was a little too shabby to be considered a four star facility. It was probably spectacular ten or fifteen years ago.

We stayed the day and night befere our wedding and everybody was happy and comfortable which made thestay perfect. We will definatly be returning. Lovely grounds for photographs Not a great menu in resturant but bar menu better

The rooms and front of house areas are a little old fashioned but this adds to the character of the hotel. The grounds are pleasant and the hotel is very conveniently located for the town centre. We had dinner in the hotel which was very good. Breakfast was adequate but a bit hectic as the hotel was busy. Our room lacked an electric shaving point which could have been very inconvenient. The hair dryer did not work but was fixed inside a drawer that would have made it difficult to replace. The bed was very large but really could do with a new matress. Communication between the front desk and the restaurant could have been better as availability issues were confused and apparently dependent on what was normally expected when a quick phone call could have resolved the situation.

This hotel has plenty of character. It is pleasant and homely and has an old world feel The price of €90 for a single room is too expensive.

Generally nice hotel, picturesque to look at. Reception staff friendly. Double bed was hard and had to move to the single bed during the night which was on a slat and marginly comfrotable. Noise from either refrigeration unit or motor starting and stopping waking me up. Also either a manager or supervisor reprimanded members of staff until early hours outside presumably near workers areas. Wasn't a quiet stay by a long way.
