Every member of our family group (14 of us) agrees that the Marine Hotel was the perfect choice for our stay in Co. Dublin. The staff is professional in every respect. The rooms provide everything we could have hoped for and the restaurants, bar, and dining room exceed every expectation. The Marine Hotel is a very special place.

Staff at hotel were efficient,as a group of 7 we were all given rooms located beside eachother on the second floor, on arriving at our room the smell of cigarette smoke was so overpowering we didn't even enter the room as our clothes would have reaked of smoke (we were staying here to attend a nearby funeral) my parents room 2 doors down was not very nice either but did not smell of smoke,I went straight to reception and asked could we be moved which was done promptly, moving not only ourselves but all of us to the same floor to be beside eachother, the second room was much better, and we received a courtesy phone call after only a few mins to see if the room was ok! The first floor rooms seem to have been re-vamped and are much nicer! The overall standard of finish throughout the room was not very good, even in the newly overhauled rooms with cracks in the silicone around the bath, a wonky shower curtain rail, bashes in the walls...however these rooms were much better than those on the second floor!

Lights in room were all integrated, therefore if you were in bed and only wished bedside lights on,you had no choice as all lights in room were either on or off. Also Fire Alarm went off at 6am on our last morning and we were left standing outside for 25 minutes with no explanations and no staff about and the front doors remained locked!!!!!!! Even after re- entry into hotel no explanation was offered.just told it was a false alarm and return to your rooms.

On a positive note this property was close to the airport, Sutton dart station and Howth I imagine at one time this hotel was quite special but it is showing its age and we were disappointed with the overall quality of the room and the property itself. The view of the bay is without a doubt the best thing the place has going for it however there is no access to the beach/water from the property. The place seems generally tired and worn and there was dinner debris, soda bottles and garbage strewn about both inside and out. Our room had some wear and tear which could have easily been fixed - peeling wallpaper, an unsecured carpet tile, a gouge in the paint on the wall. The windows needed cleaning which took away from the stellar view. Staff was adequate - neither terrible nor fantastic.

Nothing. Had no heating in the room. Window catch broken wind blowing through gap. Bathroom door and curtains not closing correctly. Generally badly run down. Have booked many hotels through booking.com and been very satisfied but this should not be on their listings!

The location was perfect. A short distance in the car or by the DART will take you to Howth( lovely to go to on Sundays, St Annes Park and Rose Garden and Dublin city centre for shopping. The hotel facilities are lovely and so are the staff. The only point to be aware of -food is not served after 9.30pm.A really relaxing and peaceful location. Leisure facilies were good also Aware that food could not be served after 9.30pm. We were held up at the airport and arrived at 9.35 but had no option for food.

The gardens, the view and the location. The particular front desk staff we dealt with were not very welcoming and made us feel like it was a hassle that we had a young child with us.
