The location was honestly the only thing I liked about Merrion Hall. The hotel was not of 4 star standard as advertised. Our rooms were not ready till 4pm..so we could not check in till then. The web site had said 2pm but when we arrived at 2 they were not ready. Staff were very rude, and not helpful. The man in charge threw his eyes to heaven when I asked him when he thought our room might be ready as we had to be at an event at 5pm. No customer service skills whatsoever..they made us feel as if we were in the way. The reception desk seemed to be rarely manned. Car park situation was a disaster, with customers forced to park in a very crowded space and then leave their keys at reception so staff could move them about to leave others come and go. Our room had no pillow cases on arrival, no soap, shower gel, shampoo or hair dryer, all items which one would expect in a hotel which charges 149 a night. Pillow cases arrived but none of the other items. Breakfast was not included at this rate. The front of the hotel looked like a building site. The room was small and faced onto an alleyway where people could see right into the room as they passed by. There was a strange noise coming from the walls when people showered. It was not a good stay.

There was nothing to like about Merrion Hall Hotel. The hotel does not meet the description at all. The hotel does not meet the description at all. Overpriced for what offers. The hotel description was not correct and it was misleading. This hotel should not charge more than 50 eur.

The location to the RDS. Breakfast was poor. Had to ask for toast but we had no butter, had to ask for coffee but had to wait for milk to come, asked for bacon but it came with a fried egg! This process took a long time. On the plus side you had gluten free bread.

The old-fashioned nature of the hotel. It has a touch of class. In room tea/coffee facilities would be better than the present room service only option. Toilet rolls should be on dispensers (nearly dropped a whole roll into the loo!).

We stayed in the Merrion Hall as it was on the Dublin Marathon route and within walking distance to the start. They allowed us to return to the hotel to shower after the race and so we left around 3pm. Tea/coffee were also provided after the race at no extra charge. They also arranged for a taxi for us Nice staff and friendly Quiet hotel and able to park the car in safety Thanks Not really a complaint but it was only when I had completed the booking on lone that I saw that breakfast was not included in the accomodation price. Not a big issue but it turned out that it was an extra €15 each to the bill - a bit pricey for breakfast I felt Thanks

Excellent staff. Comfortable room. The wireless Internet did not work in my room on the second night which was annoying as I did have work to do and wanted to work from my room. The first room I was in smelt very odd, I moved to try and get better wifi connection, the wifi still did not work but the room smelt much better.

The room itself was large, airy and relatively modernized. The rest of the hotel is old, dated and the entry area might as well be a nursing home.A Construction project to update and add a spa has been put on permanent hold until the economy improves. The staff is very limited and aware that guests are surprised to find the hotel as it is. (We confused it when we were booking with the 5 star Merrion Hotel and were quite disappointed to find that we were out of the main centre of town at the 'other Merrion' across from the Four Seasons.

Staff was friendly. I was surprised that I had to pay for breakfast - ought to have been told that the hot breakfast wasn't included, and it certainly was not worth the money.

Large, clean comfortable rooms. Staff pleasant, but could not understand English very well. No refreshment tray in the rooms. Supplied an old kettle when asked and cups and spoons. When the room was cleaned, and items removed, nothing was ever replaced, including towels, cups. Toilet paper needed to be requested and on and on. No towel rack or hooks in bathroom. No toilet roll holder. The front of the hotel has been under construction for the last 2 years according to locals and entrance is through a side door.

Room shape was very difficult (very low slanted) many of the luxury item in the room not functional including spa bath and the air conditioning. Noise from the road was very loud, could have done with secondary windows. Front of hotel is a building site and blocked off with no workers seemingly ever present to work.

The room was very comfortable although the bed was very creaky. Nice touch to welcome all guests with complimentary tea and cookies, served in their own room. The staff were totally inexperienced, unknowedgeable and, apparently, untrained, even in basic procedures to do parking around the hotel (the car park was full) and with checking out. There also seems to be a severe shortage of staff in reception.

It was well located, staff was extremely helpful and efficient. Room was modern, clean and luxurious. There was shampoo/conditioner/body creams etc readily available as well as a removable hairdryer, rare but nice touches. Best of all it was just off the main road but really quiet. The available private parking area is small.

Friendly warm staff, who were happy to help no matter what the problem. The interior design was warm and cheerful and the room had two sinks, and a wonderfully warm jacuzzi tub Was still in development so not great out of window view.

The furnishings in the room were very good quality as was the bed linen etc. The location to the RDS arena is excellent. Although there are no tea making facilities in the room, complimentary tea is served either in the dining room or in your own room. Tea is very refined. Sandwiches served in our room were excellent. I would give this hotel 91/2 out of 10 and would definitely return if visiting RDS.
