Mespil Hotel50-60 Mespil Road, Ballsbridge, D4 Dublin (Show map) Very good, Score from 648 reviews“We have stayed here many times and have always been very happy with the room. The hotel is a short walk to the city centre which is great after an evening meal, and sobering after a few drinks! Will stay again.”

I found it had the best rates & suits me as my daughter works in Merrion Sq. I can easily walk to the shops. Its in a nice area & I have stayed here before & we like to park in their carpark. They are almost the only hotel who doesn't charge for carparking in Dublin city.. I don't have any complaints. Actually we are going to a family party in Dublin the last w/e in Nov '11. Most of the family have booked the Mespil as I have recommended it so fingers crossed it will be as good as usual.

The best thing I liked was the staff they were very helpful as two people did not know were to go we asked the staff and they were extremely pleasant towards us in asking loads of questions. Will return again had a great time. The Terrace bar menu should have had more down to earth and simple food, not everybody taste would be exotic food.

The location was convenient as we were attending the horse show at the rds.The room was clean and decor nice. Buffet breakfast had good choice and food was lovely. The hotel also offers free wifi. The hotel was way overpriced, it is an average 3 star definately should not have been so expensive. Room was quite dark and there was a huge chip in one of the cups in our room which was very sharp.

The staff is very helpful and the cleanliness of the room was very good! I stayed in a room with a door between my room and the next one and I could heared my neighbours talking in the middle of the night, it was very annoying. There is no safe and fridge.

I found this hotel to be extremly comfortable and clean. Great location to stay for Dublin Marathon participants :) Restaurant menu wasnt very appetising. A main course of pasta was advertised but turned out they were only serving that choice until a certain time, this was not advertised. They finished serving the special pasta dish at 8pm we were advised when we sat down at 8.30pm. As it was the night before the Marathon and the meal we were looking for was pasta we were not very happy! Would definately recommend this hotel but would tell people to avoid the restaurant

Good sized comfortable clean room within ten fifteen minutes walk of St Stevens Green. Being a city centre hotel the room was noisy. The carpets in the stairwells needed replacing.

I stayed here with my daughter for 4 nights. The hotel was easy to get to from the airport and we were given a warm welcome. We had a delicious evening meal, the menu offered my daughter a choice of gluten-free options. Our room was spacious, very comfortable and quiet. We had breakfast every morning, again gluten-free cereals and toast was readily available, lovely food. The hotel is located well, only 15-20 minutes walk to the centre, buses are available but we enjoyed the walk. We enjoyed our stay at the Mespil and would stay again.

The young lady working on the reception on friday the 12th of August was very professional, friendly and helpful. Both of us commented on our lovely welcome to the hotel by her. She had brown curly hair!! The facilities in the hotel are great all the extras are well thought out, you guys thought of everything!! The double bed is a bit small!! and on leaving the room to make sure we hadnt forgotten anythin I found a dirty wine glass covered in dust under the bed!!

Perfect great value City Break Hotel. Arrived from a 24 hour flight and was checked in at 10am. Parked rental car in free hotel car park. Room clean and spacious. 10 minute walk to St Stephens Green. Nice restaurants around area. Check out the d4 Urban Cafe around the corner. Excellent value and nice food. If you just want a place to eat and sleep while you explore the city on foot this is the place. Room Service ends at 9.30pm. 24Hr Petrol/Shop station across the road though.

Parking was totally inadequate and we ended up paying an extra 20 euro to park on the street. No effort was made by the hotel to alleviate this problem. While the staff at reception were professional, there was a distinct lack of personal interest in their guests. This attitude is in sharp contrast to our experience of other hotels around Ireland. Also, breakfast was not included in the hotel price. After paying extra for breakfast it was self service and the buffet was of mediocre quality, being limited and lukewarm.

I stayed with two friends, we had a special occasion in the area to attend, we booked a family room and got three single beds, fantastic price and excellent staff who allowed us to pay individually, absolutely no hesitation in recommending it to friends or family .
