food, bedroom, staff so near the railway station
there was nothing i didn't like about the North Star Hotel
Excellent location, very clean, staff very friendly
everything from the moment we entered the hotel
There were some communication issues between booking.com and the hotel. We had booked a superior room with balcony and were allocated a standard room. I had to contact reception and they said this was not on the booking from booking.com. They were able to move us so the issue was resolved but I thought this should be raised. Also we had paid extra for breakfast but each morning when we went for breakfast we were told there was no booking for breakfast with our room, there was no extra charge at the end but again there seems to be a communication problem.
The room, the food at the bar. The staff were nice. And the room was definitely value for money..
The parking which was organised chaos, no Heineken, Budweiser or Carlsberg on tap or available in bottles. The hotel was also too warm I thought
The staff were excellent both at reception and in bar.Food was great great choice of menu .
Toilet didn't flush.Cleaning staff were outside our room hoovering before nine in the morning.window in room didn't close properly. It was anon smoking room other guest didn't abide by this we could smell the smoke in the hall way
Hotel room was excellent, also got a free upgraded room.
There was a strange smell in the corridor but nothing to worrying
Shower was very poor, water was either boiling or very cold, no medium, could be very dangerous for children, only fault with this hotel.
Location was great for our trip to the 3 Arena to see John Bishop. The room was nice and modern, clean, airy and we had a balcony which was nice though we didn't use it.
We booked the arranged bus to collect us and bring us to the 3 Arena and to bring us back after the concert. It cost 7.50 each. Don't bother with this. It's actually quicker to walk. It took so long to get there that we just about had time for a drink. Hadn't a clue where the pick up was for the bus after so we just walked back to the hotel. It's a nice walk
Lovely decor. Very clean. Prime location with public transport & taxi at the front door.
we had a room to the front of the hotel & we were awake at the crack of dawn with the noise of the heavy traffic outside.
Excellent location and staff were very helpful Car park staff were very good
Shower pressure was low
The hotel is a first rate hotel, it is totally inconspicuous and does not adequately convey how upmarket this hotel and suites are. I was upgraded to a suite and I would highly recommend this hotel to any traveller looking for an excellent hotel in Dublin. It's a pity it is so expensive for the night at 130.00 and that does not include breakfast but there were no other hotels free in this area and on my dates I had no choice but to pay the extra. It was however an eye opener and I would recommend this hotel to others in the future.
The location was next to the train station and was very noisey throughout the night. The location was also in a very 'rough' area.
The Location was quite central - Temple Bar was about 12 minuets walk.
The room was basic and the window did not shut properly this made it a very noisy room. Also as we were the first room on the corridor everybody that passed the room could be heard until the small hours of the morning - I would not class this hotel as 4 star accommodation and the price we paid per night wasn't value for money.
Room was lovely, hotel staff were very polite, bed was extremely comfortable.
The floor boards were very loud and creaky, could hear everyone walking around your room
very original place with all what you expect in Irish environment. - nice and helpful People - a good Pub included in the Hotel - old but cosy rooms in good condition - "healthy" breakfeast buffet
we interpreted being next to the railway Station means pretty central - which it was not and which was definitively our fault. But in Dublin everything is pretty Close so it gaev us the Chance to see more of the lovely City.
The bar and bar/hotel staff were excellent. The bed was comfortable, and the room was general clean.
Parking was a bit odd. We pulled into a dark alley next to the hotel, and a rough looking guy approached us and asked what we were doing. Turns out he was the parking attendant. When we gave him our keys, we honestly wondered if we would see the car again. The hotel was quite dated inside; lots of carpet. Our room was clean, but very noisy. We heard fighting drunks out our poorly sealed window and other hotel guests in the hallway - all night. The hotel fire alarm (falsely) sounded twice during the night. When I called the desk, they said it was probably someone smoking in their room. We got very little sleep. I cannot recommend this hotel unless you can confirm an interior room facing a quiet space, and a proper room door where no light or sound passes.
Everything was brilliant stayed in James Joyce suite beautiful and staff so helpful
The only thing is no lift to apartment from inside the hotel have to go out through the car park but couldn't fault the hotel
the food in the restaurant was lovely as were the staff. the room is lovely but the window let in a terrible draft and lots of noise.
the noise of the train from around 0530 in the morning and the cleaning staff moving furniture, hoovering and talking very loadly from about 8am. my sister and I had decided to sleep in until at least 10am as we have young children who have us up early, so we were looking forward to our lay in. we didn't have to check out until 11:30. I wondered why the gentleman on reception made us pay upfront. now I know it was because of the train noise. I'm sure they have loads of complaints. i was tired when I landed but twice as tired when I left.
Position, restaurant inside
Bad smell in the room!!
Good location and lovely reception. Staff were friendly and the breakfast was good enough, though no home made soda bread. The staff let us keep our bags there until the train and were very friendly.
Although it's across from the station the track is above/next door to some of the rooms, I had to wear ear plugs to avoid the noise. Also, the bathroom wasn't great, wobbly toilet and toilet seat, poor shower and drainage. Annoying things, but overall ok.
The warmness n decor of the hotel was my first impression. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were very comfortable. It had plenty of everything.
Pillows were a bit hard. Food and drink expensive but saying this it is in almost everyone part of the city.
I travelled to Dublin with my sister, mother and sister in law and we had our 4 bed room upgraded to a suite! So we had a lovely big room. Staff were fantastic, the hotel was clean and wifi was very fast connection.
Located right outside train station, helpful and friendly staff, comfort and cleanliness of room
Asked for twin beds and got a double but the staff separated the beds for us, however no compensation was offered.
I've reviewed this hotel several times because of staying on the nights before and after my twice-yearly visits to the U.S. for the past few years. Rooms are large and beds are always comfortable, bathroom clean and I can enjoy a long tub-soak after a long flight. The location, while not exactly city centre, is still good -- very near to Busaras and just across from Connolly Station. I've never experienced anything but courtesy and professionalism from the staff. There is an airport shuttle that runs several times per day. I've recommended this hotel to friends from the U.S. because I like it so well.
